2020 Bashan brozz 250 chain replacement question

Are you supposed to adjust the chain with the bike up on a stand or on the ground. The operation manual says on a stand but it shows an image of a drum set up

I have done it both on the stand and ground. You just have to roll the bike back and forth on the ground to verify slack and tightness on all the links. Its a tad more convenient on a stand since you have the wheel rolling free. On other bikes with a built-in center stand, its a piece of cake.

Chain slack should be check while sitting on the bike or have someone else sit on it. Not sure on the Brozz but on my Hawk the chain will get tighter with a load. After you have done it the first time you can check how much slack you have without a load on the bike so you will know how much to leave the next time.

Your chain will be the tightest with the swingarm at the mid of its travel (or with both sprockets completely aligned with the swingarm). Both the fully loaded and fully unloaded positions will be looser, that's why you need to verify with the bike loaded.

The per-manual specified slack is almost always stated for an unloaded bike, the idea being that with a typical marching order weight the chain will be near its maximum tension, and it can only go looser from there.

Of course, even when loaded, you don't want it to be completely rigid, or, worse, cross its maximum tension point before you even put your entire weight on it.
