Be interesting to see how this works as I have looked at the same/simular
kit for the CRF150 but was put off by the suck through system..

On a hill countery ride last summer the CRF got so hot it
kept stalling everytime the throttle was closed while gear changeing...
had to park up in the shade & let it kool down and all was good after that...

i have a cooler & bits for the TTR..must get around to fitting it
lucky the TTR is set up to take a full flow cooler...first few years had
a cooler then yamaha took them off for some silly reason...

it actually pushes the oil through on the Hawk. Last oil change I cranked the engine with the kill switch on to push the old oil out of the cooler.

I honestly tried searching for just the block fitting, because I probably could have saved a few bucks that way, but I never had much luck. I am sure somebody, somewhere, may sell them individually. I just never found them.

I've seen both. Just have to keep looking. I forgot what I had to type in to find it.

The problem is that the product listings come and go. Just like my Renthal bars, which are no longer listed on Aliexpress. The adapter/fitting for the block may have well been on there when you searched, and now doesn't exist.

I only found one oil cooler kit on Aliexpress, but it is nearly twice the cost of the one on Taobao.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CG12...460.0.0.xMYOWa

My total cost for the one I bought came out to about $44

So, I have some good news on the intake front. The CRF230 intake manifold will work perfectly. I already ordered a NOS one for 25 bucks shipped. Now I can mount socket style carbs.

The only tweaking that will need to be done is a bit of port matching. Without measuring, it looks like the gasket hole is about 28 or 29mm. So, likely the intake will be too.

I bet nearly every single bike ever mass produced could benefit from port matching, especially carbs that utilize an aluminum intake runner with mounting flanges for the head and carb.

In this case the gasket and intake from the crf need to be opened up to match the cg250.

Got my crf230f intake in. Dead on perfect fit. Angles match the Hawk/TT250 intake perfectly. It also has the exact same o-ring as the stock manifolds. The one in the first picture is actually from the tt250 intake i had on hand.

The imperfections.
1. As stated before, it needs to be ported. The opening on the flange where it meets the head is about 27mm. Luckily, since the same o-ring is used it can easilybe opened up to the same 30mm as the stock intake.
2. The rubber on the insulator needs to also be reshaped a little. This intake is deaigned for keihins offset carb bore, so a centered bore means the roof needs to be shaved beck a bit.
3. The socket end is for a 39 or 40mm o.d. carb. This means I have to either utilize my 32mm OKO carb, or get my hands on a genuine VM30 or similar carb. Not really a downside, but it does limit your carb selection to 30mm unless you pick up a crf230f carb. There is nothing wrong with said carb, it is a 26mm unit and more than adequate to support the Hawk. The downside is that those carbs can be a bit expensive.

All of my oil cooler stuff arrived today much sooner than I expected. I most likely wont be using the lines that it came with, and obviously not the odd man out oil cooler.

Second picture is what I plan on using.
Third picture is kind of a size comparison between the normal screen filter pod and the "large stainless" filter.

Last picture is the stainless filter element and top capof the housing. It fits into the housing with the open end of the filter facing away from the cap and a spring that comes with it on the back side of the filter, between it and the cap. I have good feelings about this filter, the weave isn't super tight so you can see a little light through it, and it has a good amount of surface area. It wont filter as well as a paper element, but it should do better than the standard screen with no penalty to flow efficiency. If you are hardcore set on having a paper filter element, then there are off the shelf options.
