Clutch cable

I have a 2006 Hi Bird ATV 250 I needed a new clutch cable so I took it off some and took a measurement of it rounded it off to 45 inches so I ordered one tried to install it and it was too short. Went and ordered another one from some where different that too is too short. I can only get one of the ends too work at a time just will not let me put both ends in . Am I taking how to measurement wrong?

You should have a slack adjuster at the clutch actuator lever on the motor and another adjuster at the clutch lever on the handle bar. Are you sure they are all the way 'in' so to speak?

Another possible. Are you measuring the actual steel cable end to end or are you measuring the outer casing end to end? Could be some confusion there between you and the place of purchase or the manufacturer.

Agreed. Ensure that you measure both the cable and the housing length. There are two different length clutch arms (that I'm aware of), and they take different length cables.

Well the wire cable is 45 inches and the case is 42" I adjusted the cable bye the clutch all the way loose and still could not put the end in the handle. So I tried the other way put the end in the handle and it was way too short too put it in the clutch lever.

I do have to get 2 new front brake cables and a throttle and choke cable to so are there any different ways to do them too?

The clutch lever at the engine do you have to pull it in a little bit under the spring tension and then connect the end of the cable? I myself have never messed with a clutch cable. I'm just trying to guess as to how it might work.

Was this already answered? Does your new cable all parts match your old cable end to end part for part?

I did the new ones are about 1" longer

Whygostock sell upgrade cables from Motion Pro. All of the measurements are there so it is easy to order.
