Well the pitbikes are gone. I traded them for a running vehicle. I hated to see
them go, but needed transportation for the winter since my truck is still dead.
I ended up with a 1975 Chevy El Camino in decent shape for being 32 years
old.

Nice El Camino. I have a 77. The transmission went south a couple of years ago, so it's just been sitting (and rusting). It used to be real nice. All stock 350/350. It was repainted when I got it in San Diego in 1992. It also had a new interior. The rust started when I brought it to Kansas. I'll post a picture of when it looked good. One of these days I'll get out there and start wrenching on it again. I sold off all my other project cars last summer, but couldn't part with the Elky. It's worth more to me, just sitting in the yard, than it would be as money in the bank.

I was thinking the same about hauling the bikes. Might come in handy to get
my son out on the GY.

Not sure as to the motor/tran combo. The PO said it has a 305 in it, but the
sticker on the front of the engine compartment says 350? IO couldn't find
any numbers on the motor to verify.

That's cool. I would definitely get it back on the road.

Well it seems the transportation gods don't want me on the road for some
reason or another? Four days into ownership the camino will not start.
I've tried everything I can think of and she still won't run. It's getting fuel,
spark even starts to fire, but just ends up running the battery down.
To add insult to injury the rear tire was flat today when I went out to
work on it. I guess I should have kept the pitbikes. At least they would get
me from point A to point B. Just my luck I guess...

You might have a timing issue.

Water in the fuel/frozen fuel lines?
dump in some gas line anti-freeze and pray for a warm day . A hair dryer on the carb will thaw it if there is water in the float bowls.

If it has a manual set automatic choke push it right to the floor once, then let off then 1/2 way down. that should set the auto choke. then don't touch the throttle again until it starts

Take off the distributer cap and make sure it's nice and dry in there, clean up the contacts a bit. Check the timing, if you have spark, fuel and compression it's going to run.

BYW change the oil in that old boat and put some light winter oil in there to help it crank over easier

I appreciate the replies. Turns out it was fouled plugs. I changed them this
morning and it started right up. I think the choke may have had something
to do with it as well. I sprayed the carb down with some cleaner before
changing the plugs. It has an Edlebrock carb on it. Is there something I
can adjust to keep it from fouling them again? It doesn't seem to want to
idle down even when warm so I am guessing the choke is the culprit?

I do plan on giving it a oil and filter change maybe Sunday. Luckily the
weather has been decent for this time of year.

Thanks...

Wow that is/was in great shape. Wish this one was as nice. I have no plans
of restoring it to original condition though. I'll probably just keep it running
until I can afford to replace the tranny in my truck. It'll then be turned into
a project. Who know's how it'll end up?
