FastDoc's Ride Report! Dualsporting Spudland!

Sorry it took so long to get the report up. I only took three days off work and I'm still not caught up....

Roger's F150 we used to haul the bikes. Great truck. Roger drove. He likes to drive (I hate it) and he hauled arse. We made it there, and back pretty fast at an average speed of 80+ MPH.

My gear fell off my rack on a branch of the Oregon Trail. It was over a vast desert area. I'd guess far from a paved road. I was going, shall we say, real fast  . I caught some air over a cattle guard and lost my pack. Brother Spud came across it after me and found it! I still owe him a finder's fee. Fact is he does look good in my jacket. 8)

Somewhere on that same trail. We were heading to The Great Southern Butte, a landmark on the Oregon Trail.

The bar (and post office and City Hall and general store and dancehall and City Center) of Atomic City, Idaho. The Least Stressful Place On Earth.

One fifth the entire population of that same town.

The gentleman on the right, Glen, told me I could stop at his ranch (up the trail, a-piece) and use some gas in cans he has for his ranch vehicles if I needed. Nice people. Mentioned the town needed a doctor. To buck alfalfa.

The only gas pump in this desert was for show only. No gas for a LONG time.

Great Southern Butte from a nuclear airplane engine. No kidding. Strange stuff in the Idaho desert.

At the Experimental Breeded Reactor. The first nuclear power plant in the world.

Roger in Arco, Idaho. The biggest town in the county. About 900 people. Great place. At least it had paved streets. Atomic City did not.

Sunny downtown Arco.

The Kawasaki Valdez. Roger'ss filter plugged and he used diesel to clean it. Note large puddle of diesel close to bike...

On top of the Butte. 7,500 feet. Steep rocky dusty loose trail. I loved it. Roger's KLR was a handful but he handled it expertly.

My camera somehow switched to B&W but it looks cool to me.

Action shot!

Trailside air filter repair. With a clogged filter the KLR WOULD NLOT climb at 7,000+ feet.

Good to go.

I love these guys. For three friends and brothers to be together riding was a taste of Heaven on Earth.

The KLX is an outstanding bike for this type of riding. From 80 MPH on the backroads to a 5MPH technical climb the KLX just flat out rocked.

Roger could do amazing things on the KLR.

Spud helping to fix a broken footpeg on the KLR. Roger hit a rock that sheared the bolts and he rode far with no right footpeg! He kept it together though.

Spud in action!

Spud on Brother Andy's TTR225. Excellent trailbike! :P

HappyDoc.

The KLR living large. And I do mean LARGE!

Look mom! No footpeg!

In the best Chinarider's tradition, I used a cutting board to augment my rack. It worked well but drew some remarks... :?

Roger's cupholder.

His cup was lost on some mountain at about 9,200 feet. Oh well.

The Blackfoot River.

Our excellent leader.

Happy Roger.

Resting. I am laying in the only shade in a large radius. Under my KLX.

At the Freedom Arms Factory in Freedom, Wyoming. What a GREAT name for a town!!! :P

It has been worn off due to excessive helmet contact. I have the same condition.

I still have some left. Mine is so thick that I nearly shave it to let my head breathe in the hot weather.

Wish I could have been there.

Going through the pics again, I gotta say that the beauty of Idaho just floors me! Really like the pic of Roger kickin back right under the "No Loitering" sign!
