The Old Guys Coffee Klatch
A conversation.
As I often do when I visit my Dad, I go have coffee with him and his cohorts at the local McDonald's. The guys are aged 72 to 85. Most are retired but one guy still farms and another drives a bus. A couple still ride, though one admits to having 'training wheels' on his Goldwing. So, pretty much a good bunch of guys, though set in their ways. So, Monday morning, one of the McDonald's employees tells the guys that the price of the Senior Coffee is going up a nickel, to $0.80. Good grief, you'd have thought the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor again. So, I'm sitting there listening to the guys bitch about the nickle increase. They theaten to take their business to Hardee's, but Hardee's doesn't open early enough, whereas, McDonald's is open 24 hours, so they can meet at 5AM. Next, they're going to start meeting at the McDonald's in Bloomer, because they aren't raising their price(no idea where that came from). Now, Bloomer is a good thirty minute drive from where they are sitting, so I finally put my two cents in and ask "how much fuel are you going to burn to save that nickle? And you do realize that you get free refills here." Crickets. Bill, the farmer, finally pipes up and say that I sure know how to ruin a good rant. The McDonald's manager stops by to give us a refill and Dad asks about the nickle increase. Dave, the manager, says what increase. First he'd heard of it. Now the old guys are all confused until, Mary, the girl behind the counter who mentioned the price increase, walks past to refill coffee at another table and says, "Gotcha".

Every town has that group. I'm sure you have heard them known as "The Liars Club" too.
Funny stuff

Friend of mine has the ROMEO club. Retired Old Men Eating Out. Typically meet at Einsteins around 6 am most mornings and generally meet for dinner a couple nights a week as well.
