thanks Kat, so by using smaller bolts to mount engine it gave it enough slop between the 3 engine mounting bracket holes to relieve the stress on the rocker cover . I never would of though of that. I wonder if you could go in with a round file an elongate the mounting bracket holes above the rocker cover ???? to accomplish same thing? Never heard of this problem before here, rj

PS: rereading wilsoncheah's post above, do they fix it by leaving the top mounting bolt out altogether??? That can't be good.
Do you have a link I could read about this problem in Malaysa?

yeah, I reckon that elongating the holes would work

To be honest, when I first read about their oil leak problem I didn't think that tension on the top mounting would cause this, I figured that a crack in the casing would be more likely to occur from excessive tension.

In my opinion its more likely to just be a bad gasket seal.

That said, it wouldn't hurt to undo the top engine mounting bracket to see if it is under stress and whilst Its off, tweaking the bolts on the top casing to make sure they are tight.

Hi!
Here in Colombia the company that sells motorcycles ( AKT ) has informed all its workshops to be removed triangular piece above the engine , this in order to avoid oil leaks and cracking of the valve cover

Different carburetor: TK MV34

Hi!

The Zongshen RX3 version sold in Argentina after mid-2016 has some changes/improvents: the Keima carburetor was replaced by the TK MV34 12R 5L06.

The PMS seems to be located at the left side, close to the cylinder intake hose; mine has a black paint mark at 11.

Hi everybody.
I know this was an old post but I have some more info on another cause of this issue.

My bike was having the same problem, and it was due to valve clearence to small, and that didn't allow the engine to develop enough power on low RPM to start running. After servicing and setting clearence to 0.06 intake, and 0.08 exhaust, everything came back to normal. (Consider I live in Colombia, in Medellín to be more accurate, and we are 1.500 mts above sea level)

Right now, my bike is in the factory again (I bought it used directly from AKT, the manufacturer in Colombia) because I found out the fuel tank had very much rust inside and they were willing to take care of it.

Just a couple of weeks with the bike so far, but very happy with it.

Hi Alejo.

Right now my bike has 6600mi, all valves set at the 0.06mm standard, and cold starts fine after 3s in the morning with full choke applied (2°C/36°F, 260m ASL).
However, many colleagues at my country set their valves at 0.08/0.10mm (intake/exhaust) and are happy with it.

Regards,
Juan Carlos.

Today I fitted a Keihin PWK 34 knockoff, replacing the original Keima PD36. Installation was pretty straightforward using the provided rubber intake adapter.
After a few adjustments it roared to life. Performance and gas mileage is to be determined.

How difficult would it be to convert the POS fuel injection system in the US models to work with a carburetor? Complete re-wire? Or can the ECU run the ignition while the carburetor actually properly meters the fuel? And the million dollar question of course is where to get the parts? There's not a lot on AliExpress for any Zongshen bike.

Charles.

The carb for it is right here:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...49615616%22%7D

And here is a CDI:

I have no idea if the existing EFI ECU can run it though, I would be surprised if it does. Most likely you need the ECU and wiring harness for a carbed RX3.

The attached picture belongs to my RX3 2016 (Argentinian version) with a TK (Teikei?) MV34 12R 5L06 carburetor. The brass screw is for PMS adjustment.
This model was advertised as a replacement for the Yamaha XG250/XT250 motorcycle.
