What Kind of Carb does this have? A CV? I Know that I read about moving the Clip on the main Needle down to the 4yh position has been stated to help with cold starts. I find that to be true becuase I started my bike yesterday (Foregetting to put the choke on) and it fired right up without problem. Barely had to give it any gas. Just a thought if any of it applys. I am certainly not a CARB guy but I am learning quite a bit here.

DOC - Did you get a Service manual or locate one for this bike yet?

Andrew
Thanks for the links. I have not seen them and will check them out.

I will post some carb pics today when I get a chance.

It's a CV carb and your idea may work. I hesitate because it started easily this AM and may not need to be adjusted. I also added some Seafoam to clean it out a bit more. Finally it runs so good I am not in a rush to change the carb settings, will wait and see, and ride.

BTW Andrew, you bought one of the best 200cc bikes available, from any country. You and your Q will build a long and happy relationship. The more you ride that bike the more you will like it.

I actually SAW a Q on the 100 mile off road section yesterday. An orange one trying to look like a KTM but it's A/C engine and modest speed (and Q decals) gave it away. I bet it's owner was smiling in his (her?) helmet.

I hadn't noticed before, but those side panels are looking very XL / XR - ish. I wonder if the seat and tank are XL / XR shaped as well. I'd be happy to compare my XR tank and seat if you like. If you remove the seat and tank, flip them over and take some photos, and I'll do the same. We could compare mounting points and dimensions and see if that would benefit you.

An XL / XR seat and a Clarke tank would make that machine much more comfortable with a longer range.
PP says the plastics and frame are XR400 clones, so XR400 plastics and tank should fit.
When I visited Lindon, Utah, last fall, one person at Pitster Pro told me XR400 plastic would fit the LXT 400. However, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever verified that claim. I have never heard an XR400 fuel tank, or any other fuel tank would fit the LXT 400. However, if I were looking for other body parts to fit the LXT 400, I would certainly begin with XR400 parts.

I'm glad the bike started right up this morning, Doc. Perhaps you were a little too harsh in your initial assessment of the LXT 400? :?: Every motorcycle wants to run; they hate to sit unloved. Maybe the LXT 400 just needs a little TLC. I would enjoy hearing from the other LXT 400 owners regarding their experiences with the issues you have mentioned.

More pics, including close ups of the carb:

Fork compression adjustment.

Fork rebound adjustment.

Note pretty adjusters. Then note no tabs to adjust them with.

Strong brakes.

Enricher lever.

Nitrogen shock.

Best part on the whole dang bike. :P

NGK.

Placebo fuel selector. Off and On work. Reserve is only maybe 2/10 gallon.

What carb is this??

Beauty shots. 8)

I forgot to mention. I used my cable luber on the clutch cable with W&G's personal favorite lube, Chain Wax. The clutch now operates fine.

I have to say, it is a sharp looking bike! Too bad they didn't put as much effort into function as form... I have no doubt you'll get it sorted out though!

hey um 4th or 5th pic up from the bottem.. the one that has that wheel with the 2 cables going to it off the side of the carb..

is my assumption correct that controls the throttle plate in the carb when you give it gas.. and that is what the return cable thingy for twist throttles so it does not stick in the full throttle postion..

I'm about to get my freshly washed bike all dirty again. My patient with the Husaberg is on his way over. This should be fun. I will be sure to top off my gas tank, again.

Indeed, you carburetor seems to share some similarities with the Keihin carburetor on my Honda XR650L.

That means that '96 to '04 XR250 parts will fit as well. Same bike, AFAIK.

I'll take some shots of my XR250R carb for comparison.

Doc,
I noticed that the bottom of the petcock is bowl shaped and has a bolt. Is there a filter or screen in there?

I don't know. I suspect a screen. I plan to replace the fuel line and add a filter.

Just got back from 2 hours of trail riding. This bike does OK. I think I may have comdemned it prematurely... Time will tell.

The Husaberg is nuts. Awesome bike. Like a Ferrari dirtbike.
