So what is the concensus on coolant motorcycle specific or any aluminum engine safe coolant?

I use this "Prestone Prime AF3000 Low Silica Formula", it works great in everything I own... my Honda, Subaru, Kawasaki, Jeeps, Trans Ams, Eclipses/Talon/Laser, etc... I would use something else for GM/Dexcool designed vehicles tho

These good 'o ethylene glycol based is recommened in most Chinese vehicle (jap/eu "copies")
Mix it http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/et...col-d_146.html according to ur temp 1:1 suits most case . 1(34%) :2(66%) suits hotter climate...

I prefer to ingest the whiskey myself and just use aluminum engine safe coolant in my bikes and cars.

I've used Zerex Asian (for aluminum engines, no silicates) in my Tiger 1050 and will use it again for this bike. It's about 12 dollars a gallon.

I have been topping off the radiators with some low-silicate, Car-Quest coolant for aluminum engines.

However, I use Prestone Low Tox in my Honda CRF250X. It is made from propylene glycol, which is safe for pets. Propylene glycol is the main ingredient in Engine Ice Coolant.

If the bottle has a puppy and a kitten on the label, it has to be good.

"PG" can also be found in most Fog Machine fluids and medical inhalers, it's also used as an Animal Feed Additive, Food sweetener (some big food corps have used it), "E-Cigs/Vaporizers", and thousands of other things we use/see daily

Really insane what all uses it has.

Ive got two dogs that are often in the garage with me so I'd rather use this and keep less chemicals that might attract them in the garage.

I switched to the Prestone Low Tox for two reasons. The coolant in the radiators of my CRF250X was boiling over during extended climbs of slow, technical riding. A lot of people having that problem switch to Engine Ice.

After doing some study, I discovered that 97 percent of Engine Ice is propylene glycol. I reasoned the other 3 percent of Engine Ice shouldn't be making a radical difference, so I decided to save money, and try Prestone Low Tox. Propylene glycol (PG) has a lower specific heat than ethylene glycol, but it also sheds heat faster. Therefore, if your coolant spends more time outside the engine than inside, the PG might actually keep the engine cooler. This situation typically applies to single cylinder bikes like the Zongshen RX3 and Honda CRF250X.

I also grew tired of cleaning up the ethylene glycol from the driveway, my hands, et cetera. Now I don't worry so much about poisoning myself, or the local pets/wildlife.
