LF200GY-2 Year 2007

Hello

I just took out my carb and going to replace it with a newer style with better jets. When I took off the carb I found a 2 things that are maybe I can get some good tips on what I should do and what to get.

1. When I turned my gas tank on the off position, and I took the hose out of that adapter thing, I am getting a small leak of gas dripping very slowly. I tried moving my little shut off valve back slowly to see if it would stop, it does NOT stop and I still get that slow drip of gas coming out. Good thing I found this out because the 1st owners that had the bike did not know about this problem and it was feeling up the carb slowly. BAD BAD. So would anyone know of something that I can buy that will fit perfectly on the LF200GY-2 gas screw thing and any tips on a GOOD shut off/full tank/reserve switchy thingy.

2. The air box that is with the LF200GY-2 is kinda big and bulky, Im not to sure what the air box does but inside is a filter thing too. Would anyone know of something better to replace the air box and how to hook it up etc.

Please any tips on what to do would be much appreciated. Getting a new carb with new jets and if I do get a new air box thing what would this do to my bike? Does it speed it up or does it just run smoother?

Thank you for your help.
Kev

Maybe this will help for question 1.

Your model is listed in the part's list.

For question 2. That's a very subjective question. If there is nothing wrong with the carb that came with the bike(other than a good clean job). I'd leave it. The gearing of the bike controls the speed primarily. Although, jetting the carb will give a slight increase in performance it's not gonna knock down doors. As far as the air box goes, it's pretty much the same as the carb IMO. It depends on what your wanting out of your bike. But changing that as well isn't gonna knock down doors.

There are a tone of articles relating to carb jetting on the internet and this forum alone. I'd suggest examining 'carb jetting' and the effects on a carb. Same goes for Air box upgrades.

Here are a few links to get your journey going. Good luck!

Item from ebay

So would I actually take the old shut off valve off and install that one?

Or

Would I leave the old shut off valve on and just add on this new shut off valve to it to stop the leaking.

I don't see reserve area for gas. The one I have on now the original one has a DOT for off and a longer looks like a finger for Full Tank and a half finger for reserve tank.

Its nice to see that it fits the Lifan bikes that product, the piece looks plastic, do you own one of these? Is it a good product?

Thanks for the links for carb info, much appreciated !
