Touring Cina on a Chinabike

Have you guys come across this already?

http://blog.motorcycle.com/2016/06/2...-around-china/

Lots of confidence in the product is an encouraging thing.

Thanks doc for the link. Hopefully Joe will be making this an important "business" trip as well in regards to bringing the rx4 to america.

I saw a mention to the trip on the blog last week, but I didn't think it was Joe himself doing the riding. I believe you must have a PRC driver's license to operate a vehicle in the country.

I've also heard that ignoring that rule and playing stupid foreigner gets you far if you do want to drive in China.

I was thinking it would be a nice job to have where you can expense/tax deduct off road vacations around the world.

I respect the business model. It is a great thing to host these tours and promote the motorcycle.

Seems to me if bum transmissions were commonplace they would not be taking people on multi-thousand mile rides off pavement in exotic places all over the world.

I'll find some Zong stickers for my Suzuki and join it.

Long live the Zong!

The tour has some time built in on the front end to take care of all the admin stuff like licenses and fees. Darn, this sounds like a fantastic tour!

I'm fairly certain Joe will be riding, like he did on the Western USA one and the Colombia one. That's kind of the point, I assume. My guess would be the Zongshen folks will handle the details of permits, etc. Being one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world, they most likely have some clout in their home country.

I saw on that PBS show GLOBE TREKKER a British citizen rented a royal enfield in india and got a permit from a local licencing guy. Just basically accepted his drivers licence on his word and was on his way.

Same reaction when I saw it, not educated enough to know what model but no mistaking that big tank name plate. I already erased the episode , could have provided episode number.
