As you said, thicker oil, will it increase internal drag on my little bashan and rx3? Make a slow bike slower? But speed in not the point is it? I'm gonna give it a try, it certainly won't hurt it.

Blow by/ fuel thinning remark, makes sense.

The sticker on the bikes frame actually says 20w50 oil on it, and 91 octane fuel. I ran some 20w50 valvoline 4T non-synthetic for the past thousand and it did feel smoother shifting. I've got Rotella T6 in it now for newfoundland as it's going to be a high of 60 and possible 30's in the morning so I don't want a thick oil in the bike. The Rotella T6 is working fine, shifting is not quite as good as the heavier oil but still pretty good.

If you having shifting issues check your cable slack first, I've found that most of the time it's that and the cables on this bike seem to stretch a lot.

I've been running 91 octane fuel in this bike from the start because we have non-ethanol fuel here everywhere in upstate NY and it's only in 91. If the bike sits you don't get any issues with non-ethanol and storage.

Yer buy a nice new bike then the first thing yer do is try to pinch pennys
in the last place yer should... or use a oil that was never intended for the job...

Any oil that is JASO MA or JASO MA2 certified, in a weight recommended by CSC and the sticker on the bike is absolutely intended for the RX3.

I'm going to get a gallon Quicksilver 20W-50 and give it a try.
