Congrats ! Be sure to change the oil before you crank it up. Make sure you start it up outside and not in your garage. Don't be alarmed by all the smoke. This is normal and is not burning up. lol

Aside from putting a larger main jet in the stock carb, I am leaving it alone until I hit about 300 miles, and then going to dyno it, and then do the basic bolt ons and mods, take it back and dyno it again. After that I will be doing the head and such.

I look forward to your results. I don't think a Hondoid has ever been dyno'd here....at least as far as I can recall. With it being, by far, the most popular type of CB, that's kind of surprising.

so i assembled the bike tonight. minor scuffs in 2 spots from shipping. I will post pictures soon. Took a bunch during and after. So far mine is a 2017. It has all the following:

Black rims
kickstand spring came installed already
burrito tube
decals included in bag ( didnt install )

like i said havent even fired it up yet. ill be changing the oil and adjusting valves, then firing it up to cook off the oils and such.

Sounds like we got the exact same bike and condition. I had a couple of spots where the paint was scuffed off, but no major damage. I would recommend wiping the rotors off with brake cleaner, and giving the brake pads a spray as well. Both front and rear brakes on mine were extremely oily and dirty. I would also say, bleed the brakes. I had quite a big air bubble in my front brakes.

so yeah... assembled and rode. Heres what i did as far as a pre ride checklist. This also covers initial setup after basic assembly...

changed all fluids ( forks and engine oil, brake fluid)
adjusted valves (shipped super tight, no clearance at all..)
filled and charged battery ( trickle charged over night )
cleaned brake rotors and bled brakes.
checked tires and spokes
fired it up, let it idle and burn off oils and grime
adjusted idle ( carb seemed to be pretty good it is a pz30, but its got a different name on it... weirdness? )
adjusted clutch freeplay and lever ( not even close )

rode it around the neighborhood for about 25 minutes, hit some back dirt roads and trails, runs great!

Im sure she will run better once i swap to a mikuni and put an exhaust on and some such.

no regrets! now for papers to show up and begin the registration battle here in NC. Im in a really rural area and theres no emissions inspection here so, fingers crossed!

thanks to all you guys im a member of the china riders family!!!!

Do yourself a favor and take your rear wheel off and check your rear sprocket. Look for my post in the Videos/Pics on Hawk Rear Sprocket Failure. Since you have a new one that probably came from the same lot mine did off the assembly line, there is a good chance you may have the same thing going on I did.

Otherwise, glad you got it up and running!
