clutch slippage
Finally crossed nearly 2700 miles on my Hawk. While climbing a steep hill at speed I shifted from 4th to 5th gear and about 15 seconds later the engine raced and acted like the clutch was slipping. Resumed accelerating and just before the crest of the hill at around 3000 rpm it slipped again. Downshifted and it seemed to be ok after that.
I had it do that once before when I shifted into 5th and it seemed to be not fully engaged , downshifted and it was fine. I did notice my oil level was a bit high (1.7L or so ?) I changed my oil and things seem ok again. |

Check to make sure you have some free play in the clutch lever.

Sounds like you just need to back off (turn in) the clutch adjustment just a little bit. These bikes are actually quite a pain in the rear to find their sweet spot. The reason 5th gear slipped a little is because it is putting the clutch under the most load, especially when powering up a hill.
