We went with 10w oil this time(vs. 5w) and legit fork seals this go-around and no leaks thus far. I will post the seal part # the shop went with for anyone who needs to service their qlink or ssr XF/XP USD forks. Still wish I had the time to figure this out on my own but just didn't have the time. The ride is a little bumpier with the heavier oil but a lot less nose diving during braking.

I also had the shop check on the clutch as I experienced some slipping on a recent ride, even after I had adjusted the cable to the best of my ability. I really though the clutch was toast as I have really abused it.... I beat up the clutch last year while limping it through LA with a frayed clutch cable. I also ignorantly used synthetic automotive oil and super cheap Mobile Delvac for the first few years I owned this bike and I'm sure that wasn't good for the clutch either (Now I run Rotella conventional T???). The TU250x owners forum has a lot of info on this topic with lots of complaints that the clutch doesn't engage until the lever is nearly all the way out, making them think the clutch is worn out. I have the same experience with the XF and keep reading that this is normal. The shop managed to adjust the cable a little better and said the clutch is fine though.
All great news!...and yes, the fork seal part # would be great. Most of the USD forks on most CB's are extremely similar. I was wondering if the CSC TT250 seals would work, as well.
Thanks for the update, dh. Keep chalking up the miles. What are you up to now???

2lz the seals they used are "Parts Unlimited FS-023 Pro Fork Seals: 41x54x11".

Right now I'm at 23,000 ish miles...probably closer to 20k as the stock odometer was a bit unreliable. It has been sitting for most of this year but I plan to make up for it this summer.

Dan that helps make sense of thisngs.... when I replaced the clutch cable I removed the clutch arm and neglected to mark the location it was in originally. I will be sure to note that next time.

Carb Jets for SSR 250XF

Culcune, where can I purchase carb jets for a new 250XF motorcycle?
Or do I not need to replace the carb jets in the new 250XF motorcycles?
Did Shandong Pioneer get their new carb jets that were certified to increase the performance of the new bikes?
Or do buyers of the New 250XF bikes need to purchase and replace the jets to improve performance and power for the 250XF?
Thanks,
1CW

Member dh is our resident XF250 guru. Actually, he has a store physically near him that deals in SSR (an actual coincidence because I know the store he bought his bike from is about 75 miles away). I am not sure if he mentioned the shop somewhere in this thread. I did start this thread a while ago in the interest of the XF250, but I do not own one, unfortunately.

He added 10 minutes to his commute!

I didn't buy this bike intending on riding it this much, but it doesn't seem to mind. I may see what kind of a video I can put together.

Here is a riding video posted by some guy in Turkey I believe:

2LZ is right about the Qlink and SSR being pretty much the same bike. Owning a used Qlink is what gave me the confidence to spend $2,700 on the new SSR. If I didn't experience the quality of the Qlink I would have struggled to justify paying over 2k for a Chinabike like so many do. After owning the Qlink I was searching for something with a little more power and everyone I know tried talking me into a used Japanese bike. Of course I heard the old tired argument, "Oh you can get a used DRZ-400 or whatever else for that kind of money". I had already owned a couple of well used Japanese Dual Sports which I loved, but they needed repairs occasionally and parts were not exactly cheap. My XL600 had constant CDI, stator, decompression lever, and carb problems which left me stranded on a few occasions. On the other hand, the Qlink had been a completely trouble free bike. In 2014 the SSR came with a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty which sealed the deal for me.
He added 10 minutes to his commute just backing the bike out and getting it started!

For a repair manual you would want to find a Haynes #5750.

XF250:$3000 or TT250:$2600

I was thinking about purchasing a TT250 which would be about $2600

After reading about the XF250 and build quality etc it seems like the XF would make more sense for only $400 additional from a quality standpoint

I would use the bike about 70% street 30% trails...

Just curious..good idea?

Hey guys. I now have the privilege of posting in this thread. Just picked up my XF250 today. It's a leftover 2018 that I paid $2650 for.

That's an outstanding price.. and you have a great bike for your riding test for that license. Glad to hear you are enjoying it so far.

Get some fresh oil in there if you haven't already, and bed If you need any tutorials maintenance, there is a series of tutorials for the tu250x. It should run a bit lean from the factory, so adjusting the idle mixture and removing the air injection pump will help.

Check the brake rotors for contamination and clean them up before bedding. Mine came with a greasy front brake rotors and they always sucked until I replaced them and did this....

Bedding In Brake Rotors
Perform 3-4 medium stops from 45mph. ...
Make 8-10 aggressive stops from 60mph down to 15mph. ...

Will factory Suzuki filters fit or do I need the actual filters for this bike? Also what kind of oil? I'm reading 10W-40 motorcycle oil but any brands that are recommended?

I'll do the bedding procedure once I'm able to get the bike on the road.

Also where is the idle mixture screw? I can't see it on the carb. I'm guessing it is hidden and I need to drill a plug to get to it?

Doh! I’ve got the HaynesRepair Manual

I got the Haynes Manual #5750 for the SSR 250XF about 10 years ago, but I still haven’t got around to purchasing the 250XF.
One of these days I’ll finally find one to purchase.
