Hi from Germany

Hi everybody,

please excuse my bad english, i'm from germany (near Mainz), 44yo and i recently bought a Skyteam Cobra 50. It will be used as a daily bitch, but a little customizing is conceivable.
Now i'll have a look around the forums and try to learn a little about this tiny thing parked in my yard.
Best regards,
Oliver

Thanks for the kind welcome!
This is a Cobra like mine:

Pictures of my bike are in progress. Let me finish some minor changes to give the bike a little nicer looks.
Trailbikeryder already helped me with some information, i found his vids on youtube and he bought his V-Raptor at the same dealer as i bought my Cobra. He's responsible that i got registered here . He's only 60mls away, so maybe there's a beer to come about.
@zingshoen, i don't think that the frames are identical, i notice to many differences on some pictures.

A quick one done with my mobile phone:

Already pulled those ugly stickers off and replaced the seat with a one from a Zhenhua Ape. It's shorter and gives the bike a more classic style. Now i find the taillight and rear flashers way too big. Some LED parts already lying here

More to come in a few days.
I would like to give the bike some kind of "clean" style. To hell with luggage rack, rear footpegs, huge lights and mirrors and other heavy needless parts.
With 6'4" it would be great to have the footpegs mounted a fair way back to get my knees away from the handlebar. I have to check if parts for other bikes could be fitted. I also don't like the break- and clutchlevers, milled aluminium would be great but expensive. I need a less expensive hobby.

the bike looks great in the second photo!
the rear light and the indicators are like the original honda style, so they wouldn t be too bad even if you left them on. and mirrors are a good thing on the road, if they don t vibrate.

In the US we have the Skyteam PBR 125cc. They are similar. I am glad to read you and Trailbikeryder are close enough to meet up. He could put your bike in one of his videos.

Welcome, tecnolli!

Neat bike! Any plans for a bigger motor in the future? A 125 will slide right into that frame.

Thx guys. Nice to hear that there are people out there who like it.
@zingshoen, yes, could be worse than original honda style. The mirrors are great to watch your shoulders. In Germany we have a thing called "TÜV", let's say association for technical inspection. Every two years they put a seal on your license plate which allows you to use the bike (or car or whatever) on public roads. Every part mounted on the bike has to be approved by EU-regulations. If you'd like to avoid an overdose of bullsh*t talk, just leave your bike totally original. This even includes the mirrors. If i mount some other mirros that give me a better chance to see what's behind me (and maybe save my life) but they don't have this small EU-punch on, every cop could give you a ticket and decommission your bike right where you are at this particular moment. Welcome to germany.

@culcune, i like the PBR a lot, but unfortunally it's too small for me. This is why i'm thinking about the V-Raptor for next year or whenever. Until then i'll have some fun with the Cobra.

@Weldangrind, even the 223 V-Raptor engine will fit and could be approved by our ******* TÜV. But believe me, they would have a VERY close look at the bike. My main consult are the footpegs now. If i fit, let's say, some pegs for Dax with a welded adapter on the frame, i could forget about the 125 or 223 conversion. The TÜV-guys don't give a flyin' f*** if the conversion is well accomplished and stable as long as the small EU-punch is missing.

Look what i found on the net, it's a cobra 125 from a guy from belgium. Whoaaah, i like it!!! Looks like he fitted the footpegs from a Zhenhua Ape.

btw, please don't hesitate to correct me on mistakes in english, i'd like to learn better. Thank god there are online-dictionarys nowadays.
