It's competing with BMW GSs, Yamaha Super Teneres, KTM Adventure and the like, so its in the same ball park (if that's the right idiom?) I think

I'm the same way with many modern gadgets and Luis Vuiton bags for example, but I guess it's just a fact of life I have to live with

Next they will jack up a goldwing for more ground clearance and put knobies on it and call it an "adventurous" bike!

A lot of the western states have miles and miles of graded dirt roads through the national forests. That is the milieu of the heavy ADV motorcycle. There is a lot of good scenery along those graded dirt roads and far less traffic than the macadam. State route 88 in Arizona is one of my favorites.
