Yet another Honda comes home. Helix.

Make no mistake about it, this is a restoration project.
I looked. I found. I bought. For a super good deal.
NEEDS: 1st and foremost, a GOOD thorough cleaning.
Buffing the black plastic body panels and a few touch up paint spots.
Install new front & rear tires ( badly dry rotted )
New chrome wind deflectors, chrome trim kit
New rear top trunk. New windshield. A bit of krylon Fusion flat black on the center section & dash where it faded to gray. May not "Need" but will GET a full service tune up and new front & rear brakes.
The scoot is a 1995 Honda Helix with 18,xxx miles on it. Runs like a top, no smoke, no funky noises of any kind, and the motor pulls strong. Very strong for just a 250cc.
This will be my project over the next 3 weeks AFTER I get my wifes Zodiac trike put together.

thanks! I always liked them.
The were " VERY FUTURISTIC " , , , , , , , , way back in the day. LOL
.
Kinda one of those " buy it now because I could not afford it back then "
sort of things. Having that been said, you MUST take one for a ride to ever understand just how smooth these things are. And not just the suspension.
Take off, stopping, handling, all just butter smooth. Takes 43-1/2 acres to turn one around. But it does so, , , , , , , , smoothly. hahahaha!

I'd say someone has weekend infactuation. Will look great with TLC. Not sure if Hondas will actually really die. Tires and brakes always wise haha considering its your ass on top. What would be the sarcastic hood emblem ? ( back off Yosemite Sam?)

HAVE FUN MY FRIEND.

Very interesting machine. It was quite revolutionary in its day. Still cool. Reminds me of Tron. I've always been surprised it was not a design that would have caught on big time

So cool!

Sarah Conner rode an Elite in the first Terminator, which is quite similar.

Our intrepid Katoranger had an Elite a few years ago; he's quite familiar with the CVT.

That's a nice acquisition, and a fun project.

Very cool. A guy in town has one and is approaching the ninety thousand mile mark.

I could probably still ride in June and July if I had one.

Get us some video of your new scoot running. You have me interested in one of these now. Appears to be tons of them for sale in Florida. All located in retirement communities.

The old Helix have quite a following. They call them the "Barcalounger" of scooters... and the original "maxi" scooter. I would like to scoot one someday.

I had the newer, big brother Honda Silverwing scooter. It was VERY nice...and smooth.

Congrats and Cheers!

I wanted an Elite in the worst way in the '80's. My buddy just sold his 600 Silverwing, and it was awesome. It was more like a sport bike than a scooter in handling, and it had space to carry groceries.

The elite was a great scooter. Some parts were tough to find. I think the helix has better availability.

I still have a spare exhaust. The helix was what I had wanted to buy for my commute then.

There is some China copies out there.

Almost kinda sorts "done" video.
Funny thing is, I got a guy jumping up & down wanting MY Helix now!
hahahahaha!!!!
He!!, most of the time I have to take a raping and cut off body parts to
sell / trade something. Now I have something I was NOT trying / wanting
to sell, and can make $400 profit on it. IF, IF I was to sell it.
( if I did, I'd just go buy another one and fix it up nice too. LOL )
