Good idea! I'm using old camera bags from the thrift store for tail bags. They can't hardly give 'em away.

Well I found out something interesting!
Did you know there are FREE GPS Speedometer downloads
avalable if you have a "smart phone" ? ! !
I have had my phone all of about 2 weeks now ( yeah, i was slow to
ge trid of my trusty reliable old dumb phone )
I downloaded 3 different GPS Speeometer apps yesterday and when I
got home, knowing I had to make a run to Lowe's and knowing my Jeep truck speedometer is 100% spot on, I opened the app and away I went. Checking all 3 GPS spedo apps and verified all 3 were correct.
Later on I had to go about 2 miles down the road for milk and TP and
drove my wifes Volvo XC90. It too was bang on the money.
Remember back ---in one post or another-- where I mentioned I thought
my speedometer was off by 10MPH on the CRF230L ???
NOPE! We were allll speeding!!!

The CRF230 is only off by 1 MPH at 60MPH indicated. At 30MPH is showing dead on best I could tell.

.
.

in other news: I removed that stupid red strap going across
the seat. It was in the exact spot my butt likes to sit and was a
bit bothersome after a few min. Wow. 100% improvement!
This seat is actually comfortable now! Was not bad to start with,
but now is near perfect.

I used my smartphone for the speedometer on Will. I used a pencil holder with a clear front zipped tied to the handlebars to hold it. I had to put vent holes in it to keep the phone from over heating. If you look at he pictures in the sorry guys thread you can see it zip tied to the handlebars, I used it to check Cerf's speedo accuracy.

That is on my list to do as well. I'm also going to install my coleman comfort ride seat cushion as well. My butt is hurting by the time I get to work. Current have the seat cushion strapped to my back pack to protect the finish on the rear fender until my rack comes in,

Andy, I swear to you as God above is my witness, I had NO IDEA you
were going to install the Coleman seat cushion on yours!!!

Never being one to leave "good enough!" alone, I picked one up
this afternoon after work at Wal Mart!!! Absolutely no clue you were
planning the same thing. All I can say is, ummmm, great minds think
alike??????
I also picked up the Coleman ATV Tank bags to go along with my
other cammo bag. Have not installed it yet though. Need more Velcro.

What are we doing? It would seem like you and I are both building short distance
( Less than 4 days out ) adventure bikes out of Enduro's. LOL

Well, I wont steal your thunder. I will let you do a report on how you like
yours first! All I will say is, as far as the CRF230L goes, it went on like it
was made just for it. NO problems whatsoever with clearance or fitment.
On the 230. Your new 250 might be made a bit different.

But I might steal your windscreen idea. Getting tired of huge bug splats
soaking through my t-shirt. ( yeah, yeah, I know, I should not be riding in squid mode anyways. )

I already have 3 windshields laying around from past bikes.
We will see what one works best on mine for my liking.

I'm interested in how the tank bags work out. I actually bought the cushion for "Will" and after seeing the review on here. It helped a lot. I wonder if Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, and others realize how much business this site actually generates for them? For now the seat cushion makes a great fender protector, hopefully rack will be in tomorrow or Monday, The seller on amazon didn't give me a tracking. When looking for a windshield, I found the same rack for $20 cheaper where I bought the windshield but it was already to late.

WWW.CRFSONLY.com is a great place to get ideas for your bike and sometimes their prices beat others. The shipped my windshield fast.

Maybe we think a little a like because I moved here from Tennessee after graduating high school in Knoxville. Most of my family still lives in Tennessee.

Nothing wrong with that. :-D

OK, I got my other tank bag installed. Anther Coleman product from WalMart.
For $12 I figured what the heck, I'll give it a try. Is made for " ATV ".
Sure! Dual Sport IS All terrain. lol
ANywhooo, I had to take scissors and cut out the hole that is supposed to stretch over the filler neck on ATV's. Problem is, the CRF230L does not have a filler neck. Just a smooth large hole. So I made the whole bigger and all was well. Also, Since the other camo bag was on, I ran the straps of the camo bag through the web of the Coleman bag essentially locking the two together like you would your fingers. ( See pic 1 )
In pic 2 & 3, I found that a 20oz. MtnDew bottle is too tall. :-/
However, the 15.5 oz. Yoohoo bottle does fit, so I am thinking the shorter 16oz. soda bottles will fit well.
Pic 4 is simply the left side with nothing in the bag yet.
Pic 5 is my "trail pack" (for the lack of a better explanation. It is a tire repair kit, vice grips, needle nose pliers, spare spark plug, a multi-bit screwdriver, quart of oil, and some shop rags. Not shown is a 6 foot long rolled up section of 14g wire, a few various 14g terminals, some electrical tape, and a couple of spare bulbs.
Everything listed fit with a little bit of room to spare. I took the bike down a 4 mile stretch of VERY rough backroad. Everything stayed in place just perfect. Then hit the 4 lane and at 65 MPH nothing flew off / blew backwards. So that whole set up is golden and only cost me about $24 tax and all.
Unless catastrophic failure happens I would recommend the Coleman "MADDOG" bags.

Or fools seldom differ. I'm included in that, because I also removed the strap from my seat, and I bought the Coleman seat cover.

Well, almost had a catastrophe. (Melted bag where it contacted the engine)
On mile 9 of this mornings journey at 65 mph the Velcro pulled loose and the right side bag then was being pushed back onto the cooling fins.

I stopped at a very old gas station that sells all kinds of fishing stuff, drinks, minnows, that sort of stuff and picked up a 6 foot long piece of blue nylon rope that is used to string fish up on when you catch them. "Stringer" I think is what it is called. Any ways, it was a whole $1.60 + tax so it was a cheap fix. I cut the long metal pointed stake off of the rope and ran it through the webbing on the right bag across the front of the frame just under the handlebar head over to the left side. Looped it through the handle that is oddly on top of the left bag. Why there is a handle there I have no clue, but it was convenient for this update. So I run the blue rope from the right to the left and back to the right side again, tying it off in multiple granny knots on the metal round loop that was on the other end of the rope.
No more problems the rest of the morning including off roading and nearly sinking in a deep mud hole! LOL ( will be making a ride report post on that here in a few min. )

Are you I tempted to play with rejetting? I was curious myself I never leave things alone even when they are working just fine. I wonder if Honda left any room for rejetting without ehaust/airbox modifications.
