Desert dust storm.

15 minutes after I got back from a ride on Sophia yesterday this brown dark cloud moved up my street and ate the neighborhood.

I was glad to be a Believer because it looked like the Angel Of Death.

It has been hot and dry and calm here. No significant rain since last May, so when the wind kicked up (30 MPH on my anerometer) it got pretty gross.

These pics were taken in broad daylight.

After the dust/windstorm came rain.

Today it is cool (70's) and blue and crystal clear outside. Another good day.

I'll bet you were glad that the rain followed. I bet it knocked the dust down.

Egads! That almost looks like the dust falling from Mount Saint Helens!

That's why God invented irrigation :-). Plenty of water from the canal that runs close to my street. The neighborhood gets its irrigation there. Our drinking water comes from a well. There's water here, including the Columbia River but only 7.5" of rain a year and 3/4 of that comes between November and February.
