Hi all, old retired rider here. In the past I've owned several 250 & one 125 dirt and one street 250/400 (found out modified) bike I bought new. Currently have none but have been following a few posts about the Chinese bikes to get an idea. I had hoped to buy a cruiser but my disability kinda tells me to stick to a smaller dual purpose bike so I'm reading your posts and learning the pros and cons of a few different brands. Help me decide!

Welcome aboard! You will find quiet a few of us older guys bought these little dual sports for the same reason. They're fun light little bikes.

I'm old too! Had a ton of bikes usually the fastest. Now old so am slowing down. Enjoying just rolling around.
May I suggest a scooter with larger tires? Ideally 16 inch but that would be an expensive Piagio. I found one with 14 inch. Reasons are: if you are riding around in the summer there in Glendale the Oven, it's nice to have a forced air cooling system. When in Tucson I melted two Harleys. Rear pistons blowing blue. Never again. Next, attention to environment. Recently sold my 600cc sport bike and went to a scooter because where I live top speed is 27mph! I discovered that the world around me became more interesting if I didn't have to shift and deal with 500lb! I would hit 40 or 50mph quickly enough and not have to shift. This also let me pay more attention to things around me. I'm in a little Mexican port where drivers are 12 years old or 30 and drunk. Then there are people in SUVs from Glendale doing 50....no offense but jeez...
Larger tired scooters allow you to hit 12 inch pot holes without becoming dead. Since this is Chinarider you can look at a Vitacci Spark 150. $1199 to your door. Does 60mph quickly mostly because it is 198lb and the extra tall tires effect the final drive ratio. Still not fast enough for freeway. You guys do 85 there. Great price means you have to work it. Diss connect every hose under the seat. Cut short the two hoses on the carburetor intake manifold and plug them. Find the hose that is leaking all the gasoline on the floor and feed that to the carburetor silly.. Now I had to drill a little hole in the brass cap on the left front carburetor covering the air fuel mix and screw in a screw and pull off cap and turn out the uncovered screw counterclockwise 3.5 turns. I'm at sea level so scoot was stalling. Just running out of gas.
Bike also has an electric auto choke that does not sense temperature so I ordered a gy6 manual choke and now it starts faster then my Lexus. You don't needs a choke when it is 110 outside. Yeah a lot of work but 1199! Your other option is the Piagio Medley with 16" tires. Fine bike with fuel injection goes 75. $5000.
Just a suggestion. All those 250 (229cc) dual sports are a consideration if you want to hit a dirt trail. Pick one based on you inseam. Seat height vary from 33 to 37! I have 28 inch legs so I'm screwed. Don't bother trying to increase horsepower. They are what they are unless you put a nitrous kit on one! Save your money for better shocks etc. See ya mark
