Venom/Apollo 125cc Clutch Question

So I finally got my Venom 125cc bike and after assembly and changing the oil we started it up.

I note when first gear is engaged, the bike jumps forward slightly (yes, the clutch is fully pulled). I tried adjusting the adjuster on the clutch line but that did not seem to make any difference.

Is it really supposed to do that or does the clutch have to be adjusted or is that to be expected on these bikes?

The clutch lever should be adjusted with minimal play. About 1/8" of free play in the lever. Also on a new engine you may feel a little pull with the lever engaged. It should get smooth after a few hours of running.
