Just saying hello and thanks to all for the great information.
I found this site in June searching ZS169FML.
I am the owner of three used and abused neglected Zongs. My first was a United Motors Renegade 200cc. I purchased the next two in hopes of swapping one of the engines into the Renegade. Even though they didn't run, I was impressed with the engine quality. I decided to repair them all.
I got 'gas and oil' in my veins at the age of 13. I bought a basket Garelli 125 against all the naa sayers. Had her up and running with the help of a Sears and Robuck employee (1966). Been riding and fixing various bikes ever since. I was lucky to have worked farms and ranches as a kid. Learned to braze, weld etc. at an early age.
Thanks for a great site!

Welcome to here. I have that same engine in my 2009 TMEC 200 Enduro. Has over 4000 miles, as far as what I can tell since my speedometer never worked when I bought it last Thanksgiving weekend, and showed 302 miles or km on the odometer. I commute 30+ miles per day, and lately over 105 to 110 Faranheit for the ride home.

There was an interesting article about the founder of Zongshen someone had linked to mychinamoto.com. He is trying to put quality into Zongshen, and it seems the engines were his start. Hopefully the bikes will continue to improve...

Welcome! You are with like minded people. A Garelli?! That's cool! I'm thinking you are on the more, er, 'mature' side of the spectrum?

Someone told me the other day I was 60 the last birthday. I said c'mon how many 60 year olds ride dirt bikes? They just smiled.

Thanks for the welcome!
By the way I'm still lookin for a zs169fml piston and cylinder head if you might know of any sources. Still shy to send bucks to a translated Chinese site. (TaoBao)

Thank You!
The two Zong 169fml 's I saw running, seemed to run like sewing machines. Neither owner would part with their bikes. Good enough for me.
