Oh you know it brother!
In fact, I am convinced there is a lot more ommph to be had out of the little 230. But, , , I do not want to do anything that will significantly reduce my mind boggling fuel mileage.
Not even sure what jet is in this bike to start with, but I feel at
60MPH, going up 5 or so on the main along with a K&N air filter
would make for a noticeable power gain.

TODAYS MOD:
.
I got around to installing a windscreen today.
The one I wanted to put on was smaller and darker.
but the shape of it and the mounting arms supplied with it did not
allow for anything remotely close to an easy install.
Plus, like I said, the shape just did not look right.

Soooooooooo,
I look over in the floor and see my PGO windscreen that I ordered back in February to put on my then brand new Genuine Roughhouse50.
The PGO screen was actually made for a first generation Genuine Blurr.
I pulled it out of the bag, held it up to the Honda "VOLA!!!!" Looked dang near like it was made just for it. And it was sitting not even three feet away from the CRF since the day I brought it home! LOL Mark & drill 4 holes in the white plastic thingy above the headlight, stick 4 of 6x30 flanged head bolts in. Done. I did have to take the 2 allen screws holding the white headlight thingy out and pull it forward so my chunky fingers could get back there to start the bolts in. All in all start to finish was less than 30 min.
Easy peazy. Best I remember, this windscreen cost's about $130 shipped.
It had a " Genuine Scooter Company" decal at the bottom that I quickly
removed, then noticed it was now easy to see "HONDA" from behind it! How cool. LOL
As far as function goes, for doing it's intended job I would give it an A+.
I DO need to make one little bracket that would run from the white headlight thingy back to the handlebars for better support at speeds above about 45 or so. Much over 45 and it flops around a bit from the wind. Not much, but noticeable.

Windshield looks awesome, it may make you a little more aerodynamic so that you pick up a little speed or you may get even more mpg. I noticed a 5 mpg increase but that may be due to breaking in.

TODAYS MODS:
Not much. Removed the floppy round Mickey Mouse ears mirrors
and installed much larger more street-able ones. Probably hard to tell
in the pictures, but they look better (I think)
OH, and I also removed the rear pegs. For one, I don't ride passengers.
Ever. And two, the stupid things kept flopping down. So I just took them off. Save that whole whopping 1/2 lb of weight there since I have added
20 lbs. of crap to the bike now. hahaha!

OHHH, and I got gas for $1.99 today!!!! 0_0

They are ripping us off like bandits in Idaho. The price of gas is $2.88/gallon!

I must assume state/provincial taxes are responsible for the higher fuel prices in Canada and Kalifornia. The 'workers paradise' is always expensive to implement. However, we don't have an excessive fuel tax in Idaho. Therefore, I must assume corporate greed is the only reason the price of fuel is $1.99/gallon in Tennessee, and $2.88/gallon in Idaho.

I'm sure you're right.

I've missed something; who was complaining of high fuel prices in California?

As usual, you didn't miss anything, Weld.

I was talking to someone at the gas pumps several days ago, and he told me the price of fuel in Kalifornia was even higher than in Idaho. Naturally, I wasn't surprised; this is always the case.

6 month 1100 mile update, another bike search

Yesterday I swapped out the 13 tooth front sprocket for a JT 15 tooth
sprocket. HOLLY COW talk about a heck of a drop in RPM's!!!
Reason for the change is I have been hanging out down at the lake more & more often ( yes, even in the winter ) and the Hwy. to get there, when I take the 4 lane fast route, is 70 MPH speed limit. The lil 230 was fine and dandy up to 60, but by 70 it was revving it's little heart out.
Never did buy & install a Trail Tech vapor gauge. Was trying to make sure
I KEPT this bike before buying yet another one. I have n=bought 3 from Trail Tech so far, one still on my scooter, and the other 2 went on bikes traded off. At $150 a pop that adds up.
The last 1100 miles has, mechanically, been (thankfully) uneventful. NOTHING
has failed. yay HONDA! lol
I wish for more HP. Now with the gearing change, when in 6th gear I can not pull much of a long hill at all without the bike slowing down to 60 MPH and having to drop to 5th gear. Can now run 65 MPH in 5th gear, so 6th gear now feels like a true overdrive. Great for MPG's and on flat ground, but have to downshift on EVERY hill. No big deal. Shifting is fun.
Ummmmmmmmm, what else, , , , For some reason my scrawny butt has decided it no longer likes the seat after about an hour. I have taken the Coleman seat cushion off, put it back on, taken it off again, put it back on. And as of yesterday, again, took it back off before going on a 3 hour ride. Nothing feels just right. So now looking into one of these ------> http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Plate-...cycle+seat+pad

Tires show no noticeable sign of wear. I still think the suspension is perfect for a dual sport.
Found out a power upgrade combination: 45 pilot / 120 main jets, K&N air filter, FMF Power Core 4 exhaust. All together would gain about 1-1/2 HP. And cost $500. :-/ That's one damn expensive HP. Needless to say, not going that route.

Not sure how long I will keep the dual sport. I miss the cruiser style bike often. Then again, I do not want to NOT have a dual sport. Still have not convinced myself to sell the Honda and buy an RX3. Depending on what my flip house I have spent 3 moths restoring brings, I may end up with both mt Honda and a ?????? cruiser in the garage.

Already found a peach of a Kawasaki Vulcan 500. 1 owner ( old man had it ) and 7000 miles with new chain & tires for $2900 tax & all out the door. But have yet to take it out for a 2+ hour test ride. I will say this, it is very noticeably lighter and smaller than my old V-star. Seat, from plopping down on it in the showroom, feels uber comfortable. BUT, so did a Rebel, , , , for the first hour, , , then it got cramped. I am looking for a cruiser that is both lightweight, AND can stand to ride for 4+ hours a day. Have yet to find a Suzuki GZ250 or a Yamaha V-star 250 anywhere remotely close to near me to go test ride. Bit the Vulcan 500 looks promising. Love the Rebels. But, , , , they just look sooooooooooo tiny!!!!!
