Yes you should already have done a valve adjustment right out of the box... almost every bike is shipped with fully closed valves...

I check them every oil change and re-adjust them as needed

I just finished the adjustment. I wish I could of found a video of my exact bike but it does t require a lot of things to be removed. The gas tank is a must on the 16/17 edition. You have two windows to work with. I wouldn't recommend removing the cover like I did. Gotta get a liquid gasket seal to seal it back up. Which will take 24hours to cure, so now I can't test the adjustment but I will figure it out tomorrow. Is there anything else you guys recommend to do?
