That is not an American Lifan. It is sold by one of the workers/principals of T-Motorsport. Not a bad dealer, I am pretty sure, at least according to a few of the members who have bought bikes from T-motorsports, or their ebay auctions, but you are on your own for warranty issues and putting it together, registration, etc.

Bruce of EJ Cycles or Tom of RPM can clarify this, but I am fairly certain that an American Lifan dealer cannot sell bikes on ebay, over the internet, etc. I am sure there are exceptions, such as shipping whole assembled bikes with a proper bike shipper, but I don't think an American Lifan dealer can ship an un-assembled crated Lifan product to a customer. Bruce or Tom?

I just bought a that same bike from that same dealer. It is a good bike, and they were very helpful when I had a little trouble getting it registered. Although it didn't come with instructions, it wasn't too hard to assemble. I would recommend them.

It came with the front wheel off, the back wheel and brake off, the headlight assembly off and the instrument cluster off. Without instructions, it took several times putting the axles through to figure out which spacers go where and figuring out the brakes. Me and another guy put it completely together in about 3 hours. Then it took longer to go over and adjust everything and locktite it.

Hey Dave,
I bought my 06 Lifan GY-5 from the same place, T-motorsports off E-bay $1205 to my door... It came in a steel crate, drop shipped and had to assemble myself(wheels, handlebars, fender) not hard at all... It is not an American Lifan, it's a re-badged grey market TMS Lifan, meaning Lifan or Choquiong(whatever) built these bikes for TMS to their selling specs, I may be wrong but I know I'm close..Anyway, It's a good bike, just follow the bike prep thread and build it right and you should have no problems..
MCO issues, it is not filled out and you need to have this done, myself and others haven't had any issues getting this done, depends what your state wants... I have a gallery of my bike and what I have done to it, I just got it in Jan., go check it out.. Hope this helps you...

I know in my State, FLA. They required that the back top be filled out and a federal odometer reading at time of sale.. I just faxed them the forms DMV gave me, they filled them out and faxed them back..
I used my reciept from Paypal as my bill of sale.. Hope this helps as all states are different...

I have been happy with my "Non-American" Lifan (when you think about it aren't they all...)

It has been a good value for the money. Fun to ride and fairly easy to maintain. I didn't buy from that "dealer" and would not recommend who I got mine from.

I also would say that it is well worth the few hundred extra to buy from an official American Lifan Dealer if you have one near. That way if there is an issue you will have easy access, quick access to help and parts.

Although I haven't had problems getting the few parts I have needed.

I do agree, B&M is the way to go and from Blimpman's post it seems that the China revolution might take off sooner or later...

I am very happy with my bike and it was well worth the price..I think that the info I have given and received just from this site alone has made my China bike/Motorcycling hobby more fun than it ever could have been..

Hell, I need warmer weather...
