T-Motorsports battery

Bought a gel-filled battery from t-motorsports for $37 including shipping. It is their own branded battery. When it arrived, I threw it on the charger, got it fully charged in a couple hours, and so far, so good. Far better than kickstarting or push starting the bike as I have been doing the past couple months. I had charged the old battery a few times, and since I didn't know how old it was since I bought the bike used, I figured it was out of life since it would no longer let me use the electric start for the bike, even occasionally.

I expect the battery will last me a while...

Wow those prices aremuch better than I have seen anywhere. Agm usually run $80+!
Will look into a new battery soon.

It's still going strong, and that is after several days of sitting. I did get the gel-filled battery which costs more, which might mean it works better? Or maybe an acid-filled equivalent battery works just as good for less money outlay?

The AGM (gelfilled glass mat) are the best option for longevity. Go pick up a cheap trickle charger from Walmart or online. Should be no more than $30. Plug it in ever couple of days or leave it on when ever your not riding.

It's usually around $5.00 for a battery tender from HF. I have several.

Those say not to use on the agm, have you had any issues on the gel batteries?

I just re-read what I wrote--I do have the mat battery, not gel-filled, as that is what T-Motorsports sent. I meant to say, I got a gel battery as opposed to traditional acid-filled one. Doh!

I think I only had to use my battery charger once (2-amp) when I left my keys in and turned to 'on' for an hour or so. That must have been during Christmas time, and have not had to use it since.

Part of the reason I went this route was the fact that it could be sent directly through the mail. I seemed to have found a few barriers to mail-ordering with acid batteries. Although it has been a relatively short time, if it is just as straight forward to mail order acid batteries via T-Motorsports, if this battery's 'experiment' does not work out, and I need a new battery. But so far, so good!

I hadn't thought of that, and I haven't tried it yet. Knowing what I know about gel batteries, I can't imagine why the HF battery tender wouldn't work.

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries are different from gel batteries.

AGM batteries are safely charged with any standard charger used for flooded lead/acid (FLA) batteries. If you own a low-maintenance battery instead of a wet, FLA battery, you undoubtedly own an AGM battery. Gel batteries are pretty rare, but they must be charged at a lower voltage.
