Question What oil are YOU using!

Hey guys, My RX3 was delivered yesterday. In short order, I'll have to do the first oil change. I'm not looking to start the oil debate at all. Just let me know WHAT you are running, or did.

So, for example:

Climate: New England, 40-90 degrees out
Oil: 15w40 Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic
Break in Oil: Valvoline Motorcycle oil 20/50

Thanks!

Dave aka Ghan

just put in Mobil 1 motorcycle synthetic this week after 500 miles of breakin using valvoline dino motorcycle. I'm curious to see how the synthetic handles the city stop-go heat on the clutch plates.

I used Castrol 4T petroleum 10w-40 up to 500 miles, then switched to Mobil1 4T Synthetic (10w-40) at 500 miles. Bike runs fine and neutral is easier to find. Next oil change (not for a while), I'll give the Mobil 1 20w-50 a try since Joe's reporting good results and we're headed into summer.

Thanks guys! This is perfect. No arguing about it -- just simply what you did. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. Gotta go do the 1st oil change today.

Got the new rx3 to 200mi yesterday.

Hey Dave I see you're in CT. How did it go getting your RX-3 registered
and tabbed? I've heard you need inspection first at one of the two DMV locations and have to trailer it there. Curious how it worked out for you.

btw I just saw a recent comment to Spud about oil threads and how they pop up every couple months..and sure enough... I just posted my oil results and experience in my thread "clutch upgrade". I've got through at least 5 different oils for RX-3. Finally found a winner for mine and the other 3 RX-3 riders I ride with up here. Final results:

Climate: Seattle 30-90 degrees
Oil: Maxima Syn Blend 10w40
Break in oil: Rotella 20w50 diesel oil (great oil but not for RX-3's IMO)

Just did two oil changes today, wife's bike and mine. I found the Castrol Actevo 10-40 gallon on sale at Cycle Gear so I'd figured I would give it a go. So far my shifting has smoothed out a bunch, I report more as it works it way in better.
