KPM 200 Clutch / First Gear Issue

I have a KPM 200 and overall love it.
I've noticed an issue where I'm gearing down (say from 4th to 1st) in one clutch pull, the bike will stop at 2nd. I have to release and re-pull the clutch to get to 1st.
Any ideas on what would cause this or what I can do to fix?

I would think what you described is normal. You have to have some movement to get the gears to mesh. Just my thought
