Hensim 150 no lights or electrical start

Morning everyone. I'm having an issue with a hensim 150 atv. Currently I can get it to start off the starter but using the push button does not work. When the 4wheeler is running no lights are working. I found a 15 amp fuse back by the battery but couldn't find a fuse location near the front. Is there one? Any other suggestions on what I could be?

There is likely to be only one fuse.

Before we go any further, is there a kill switch on the left handlebar that resembles a street bike turn signal switch? In other words, you can slide it either left or right to kill the engine?

Yup you are correct. We took it apart and we're able to verify the contacts in it is working.

Ok, that switch has fooled many of us. After you slide the contacts either right or left to kill the engine, you must press it in once to allow the engine to start again. When you press it in, you'll feel it click. Give it a try.

Try it. I have one that will crank all day and never fire, and one that won't even try if the switch has not been reset.

Ok, when you say "I can get it to start off the starter", please explain what that means. Tell us how you got it to start.

Sorry, ment to say I'm jumping it from the solenoid.

That's what I figured.

The starter circuit requires that at least one of the brakes is applied before the solenoid will be energized. You can unplug both brake switches and check them for continuity.

I recently worked on a quad where one of the switches had failed completely, but the other showed continuity on the multimeter. The rest of the story is that even the switch that showed continuity wasn't able to close the circuit (likely due to corrosion), so I just bypassed both switches. Solved.

Let us know if your switches show continuity.

Ok I'll check the brake switches out. That doesn't explain why my headlights or any other gauge lights aren't working tho, does it?

Nope, but we need to take one step at a time. You could be facing two problems at once.
