Motorcycle.com has an excellent essay on choosing the correct tires for your Adventure motorcycle. Here is a link to their Adventure Tire Buyer's Guide.

Another good tire for the front wheel in sloppy conditions is the Maxxis IT tire in size 100/100-18.

Spud - question on tire diameter. I am a very short rider. I am currently in process of changing from Stock CST tires on my RX3 to Shinko 244s. What is the diameter difference I should expect and will the corresponding height increase be significant?

For those of you running a 5.10/17 rear Shinko 244... how do you keep it from contacting the airbox and inner fender? Preload was enough to keep it off the fender with my Shinko 705, 130/70/17, but the 244 makes a LOT of contact.

Charles.

So yeah, the Shinko 244 and Kenda K270 in 5.10/17 just don't fit. They're too tall and eat through the airbox. Don't use them. I switched to a Kenda Big Block in 130/80/17. That fits without rubbing anywhere.

Did your 705's hum going down the pavement?? I put them on my Strom and love how they handle both paved twisties and gravel roads but boy....they can put out quite a hum at certain speeds.
