Frustrated with parts availiablity

I really like my Bashan Storm and think it is a nice bike, but the dealers are the ones that make this experience bad. I have contacted over three companies for parts and not one will call back nor answer emails. Why are they so inept? Its just amazing to me the world we live in which they are so fast to sell you a $1,699 machine and then when you service or help, there are crickets. Its just too bad. This is why these Chinese bikes get a bad wrap. Also, not one mechanic in the Minneapolis area I have asked will work on my bike. Its another reality that most of all our crap is made in China, yet these so called techs won't work on these bikes. I even asked the guy to just do a chain and he said he couldn't do it. I was like what kind of mechanic are you? A motorcycle one that can't install a chain?

I suppose I knew this going into this, the cheap price, lack of parts, service, so I have no one to blame but myself. That guy in Tennessee was awfully nice, but but his company has not contacted me back with my parts request. Not even MOTOBUYS. Heaven forbid I call another vendor like SAFERWHOLESALE. I'm sure its just they are busy with 10,000 other parts requests. There are people that have luck with these bikes and I get that, but there are some that have horrible luck. So far I have been one of the lucky ones, but there is still along way to go with these chondas.

I am considering riding this bike another month, paying my loan off, and then sell it and purchase a more name brand motorcycle where I would not have to deal with some of these parts/service issues. I have been looking to go all the way and just buy a BMW motorcycle. I will have to see at the end of the season. I am sure someone would pick this Bashan up.

What about a TT250 or RX3 from CSC? Gotta be a lot easier on the pocket book than a BMW for goodness sake and you should have parts availability at least with CSC. Just a thought. Best of luck to you.

What parts are you looking for? Everything I have needed so far has been on ebay. It did take awhile to get used to searching generic part names and looking for pictures that match. Nothing by part name.

Like you said service should be easy on these bikes. A reputable shop should work on it no problem. It's different though and just like some service shops only work on domestic or only imports. With a dead simple bike like these I can't see the justification though.

...and Amazon too. Just type in "Chinese motorcycle parts" and start scrolling...or "Chinese motorcycle brake parts", etc....
They're a lot easier to find now than just a few years ago.

Chinese bikes aren't for everyone. If you go in expecting zero dealer support and plan doing your own wrenching, then I think they are a good value, other than that all bets off, windows closed! Even with excellent dealer support from CSC, it is still far from a full service dealer network.

Parts for chinese bikes aren't really brand specific, as weld said above, all or most mechanical parts are available, finding them takes a little skill and patience.

Best of luck on the BMW front, the purchase price can be merely an initiation fee if you need repair or maintenance.

Yes, I'm sure you could sell your bike, but unfortunately you may be in for a bit more disappointment, resale value of Chinese bikes is typically low IME, perhaps why I have a garage full of em lol.

Check out the China bikes north America on Facebook, there's a guy named Joe b Dallas that seems to have replaced every thing on his hawk. Might get parts lead there. You don't need a mechanic to work on these bikes.

Surprisingly, I've had good luck with it so far. Initial low investment and not near the % loss I've taken on many Japanese bikes I've had.

I bought both Hensim's for about 1800.00 new, with helmets, gloves, extra spark plugs, battery tenders (they didn't even have batteries), extra CDI's, tax, license etc...and sold them both for 800 each after riding them for a few years. I kept all the extra stuff.

I bought my X-Moto for about 950 new and if I can get 6-700 or so out of it, I'll be happy. I've had it for about 5 years. Hardly ridden the dang thing tho, being off-road only.

So far the CB's have probably been better to me on resale than any other bikes I've owned, minus a couple old Harley's.

Yes they are one of the places that I contacted for some additional parts that I wanted. Never heard back.

This is another bike I was considering. I think this would be a good performer.

Thanks for the heads up. I did not consider that. I will take a look and see what I can find.
