the sidecar will be no where near as complicated as the suspension and other things you did. it's really quite simple. AFAIK the angle of the hub is 0 degrees. when you connect the sidecar to the bike, you should have it angled in about 7/8 inch over a 6 foot length. I used a laser aligned along a 2x4 which was put against the rear wheel. I made marks on the garage floor in front of and behind the bike. when I attached the sidecar, I did similar markings based on the sidecar wheel. you want the front mark distance to be slightly less than the rear. in essence, toe in.

when you set up the sidecar to the bike, have the hub of the sidecar ahead of the hub of the rear wheel. on a shorter bike like the 250, perhaps start with 5 inches ahead. you can always adjust based on how it feels. the thing to remember with sidecars is it's as much an art as it is a science. tinker until it feels right to you.

good find Jerry!

One other thing to note. finding a small used sidecar might be a good way to save a bunch of fabrication time. food for thought.

I do believe , if it's still available, that a Velorex mount kit would shorten my fabrication time and frustration level . I'm thinking about a plate or bar with the lower tie ins that i can attach to the lower engine cradle area.

Question now is can i just pivot the sidecar at the bottom mounts and make it a leaner ?, put the bike on the side stand and maybe a stopper of sorts ( R/H) so the bike can just lean in towards the side car on the stopper ? or is that now over simplifying this? If this is doable then do you slow the leaning with a basic shock absorber ( which if the right length can act as the stopper in both directions?

Nice link Jerry
Thanks again
Paul

I've been looking on Craigslist and so far i've seen only one ( Tucson AZ )(close enough to make it worth while to fetch ) (200 mile radius ) but it was $1500 which , like many here, is 10x what i would like to pay

China riders are a resourceful bunch so if any one has a lead that i did not dig deep enough to find please let me know . I live in Silver City NM 88061 and if i up my radius to 250 miles i think that puts me in range for Phoenix AZ , El Paso TX and Albuquerque NM .

Hello,

I want a "sidecar", but not for animal or luggage. I want to basically have it as an outrigger so I can ride during the winter in snow. I try to ride to work everyday and missed 2 days last month because of snow. This place has something like I want for a Grom, but I would want a larger diameter wheel (I think) capable of what is typically my top speed on the commute of 50 mph. https://industrialmoto.com/utilitysidecars/
