Help! Wheel Issue - On Brand New Titan 250 DLX
Hey guys I took my wheels to the motorsports shop to get them trued, and they said they were so far out of line that it would take them 5 hours per wheel to correct them @ $125 an hour. We are looking at $1000 just to straighten my brand new wheels. They said the spokes were so tight that they might actually be bent rims....
So what should I do? Open to any and all suggestions. I just want to ride lol. |

These don’t sound very “brand new” to me.
You can’t rely on shops for anything anymore. RVs, boats, motorcycles, welding, wheels. They are high on the explosion in growth of recreational industries and inflation. So you’ll probably want to just true then yourself.

Imagine buying a new car for 40k and then during the first service you find out it costs 20k to rotate the tires lol.. yea check out a couple YT vids, buy a $10 spoke wrench and do your best. It may not be perfect but it'll be close enough. But to cover your bases definitely circle back with where you got it from and see what they may do; nothing to lose

Great! Nothing like buying a new tool and discovering that the experts are over rated. And gain new skills. Nice work.

Great! Good news. You'll be amazed as what as good job you can do because you care about the outcome.

Truing spoked wheels is not rocket surgery or brain science. Five hours per wheel only applies if you're being paid by the hour; you can do it yourself in probably 1 hour, for both.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and help. I got them pretty straight, I still got some vertical drift in the front thats having an issue coming out, but the bike is completely rideable and feels safe. Went on a nice 30 min ride today. Felt good.

Now KEEP them snug and have another crack at the front wheel this winter.
