Engine ID 1p53fmi

Hello fellow riders!

Picked up an unbranded lifan hoping to swap it into a Honda SL90. Just arrived this morning poorly packed. Stamped on the case it says 1P53FMI and below it says 19040235. The sticker on top shows the shifter pattern as R>N>1>2>3.

I purchased it thinking it is a manual 4 up. These are the specs from the listinging:

Should be able to roll the engine over and verify if the sticker is correct, if it is then it was built to be an atv engine.

The engine number won't give you any information on whether its a 4 speed or 3 speed with reverse. Looks like they sent you an ATV engine instead of a motorcycle engine. Might be the wrong shift pattern tag if your lucky. Try removing the plug and manually turn the engine to see if it reverses.

Took the spark plug out and put the shift lever all the way down, cranking the stator cover counter clock wise the sprocket spins ccw too. So I think I am in the clear, though the engine is not nuetral>1>2>3>4 as I wanted.

While I was shifting through the gears, the selector is now stuck in 4th. I cant seem to free it out of gear. Any ideas? Thanks for the quick replys so far!

Try rotating the crank as you try to shift, might not be easy without it mounted but fresh gears don't always shift easy.
