Title? Really?

Hello all,

I was searching around and I found out that these bikes do come with titles. I HAD NO CLUE! I thought it was just like a toy or something you buy..

I purchased my DB36 from someone on craigslist about a month ago or so.

I read the listing again and it does say no title - but when I was reading that I really didn't think it ment no title.. more in line like it doesn't have one..

But I guess these do right?

Now, question is, I was going to sell it here shortly.. but now I am scared to cause you need a title right?!?

Is there anywhere I can see if the bike was stolen? I mean I don't think it is.. but what if it is?! Maybe I can get it back to the owner?!?

Can I get a title if someone just "lost it"..

I know how this works in AZ, and I am sure many other states have a very similar system--you can go to a title bond agency and get a bonded title. Usually, they cost approx. 10% of the value of the vehicle.

The bond simply guarantees to the state that no one else can claim the bike as their own. In other words, it protects the state, and ultimately you, in case someone tries to come back and say that they are the true owner of the bike.

This is the same system when you get a title bond when you buy a house.

Well sweet. I am in Arizona.

I guess I can look that up.

I mean it would be better to do that cause when I sell it, I could ask for a little more right? I would think if you had no title, you'd have to sell it for less.. probably like what this guy did to me.

If you are concerned that it might be stolen you can take it to the local law enforcement and ask them to run the VIN.

If it comes back clean then a bonded title is a the best route to take. If you just want a dirt bike then a title is probably not an issue.
