front forks need help

The suspension on our Xmotos 250's really need help. Front forks - whats the best mods to get full travel and some real dampering. The front forks loose at least 2 inches of travel be just sitting on the bike. In the back replacing the whole unit might be the best fix - true or false?

As far as the front forks go, a little thicker oil will increase the dampning and some spacers made of pvc pipe will pre load the springs by placing under the fork caps.

A few members have reported that an R6 shock is a good solution for the rear.

We can figure that out if you measure the existing shock from mount to mount. Take the time to measure the mounting hole diameters as well.

You'd want to remove the shock for a proper free length measurement.

I'm going to check my rear shock on my 250cc before i find a replacement, i have to make sure i have the spring preloaded correctly and make sure the nitrogen pressure is within range before i write the rear shock off.

My rear shock will not hold a charge of anything - it had zero pressure so I tried giving it some compressed air - it held for maybe 5 seconds then back to zero. Theres a large selection of R6 shocks on ebay for sure.

A couple of members (waynev included, IIRC), attempted to repair the gas assist shocks. I believe they used some form of epoxy to seal the air bag to the nut. Maybe that would do the trick.

Hmmm, mine after a year still has lots of pressure in it, i'll have to take it to my buddies place to check and adjust the nitrogen level as needed, he has a nitrogen tank.

Weld, these shocks are different than the beast ones, they do not have the seperate resevoir that the beast ones do.

Theres no external reserve on this model my bikes were built in 07.
