Beijing Going Motorcycle Free?

Just watched a really good Chinese film last night, "Beijing Bicycle" that was made in 2005. The film takes place mostly on the streets of Beijing and all i saw were cars and bicycles. In only 1 scene did i see a motorized bike- an old guy on a moped in heavy traffic of bicycles.

I saw maybe several hundred bicycles of all sorts and lots of cars. What's going on- are they trying to hinder street criminals from making fast getaways?? Are they going green- no 2 smokes ?

Is this just temporary in advance of the olympics?

What will 1000 motorcycle factories do if China outlaws 2 wheeled motor vehicles entirely?? :?
