No shavings noted, just some sludge on the drain plug. I'm really liking this thing.
Congratulations ! ! !

Thanks all! I really am impressed with the fit and finish of everything so far. I checked connections and bolt torque. Chain was a bit loose (almost 3 inches of slack) but was easy to adjust to 1.5 inches of total movt. Waiting on replacement bars to arrive so I can install my Oxfords and "Barkbusters". Lastly, on the break in, after the 500 mile mark, oil change, valve adjust etc, how are you guys riding it? Still kind of easy, or just normally?

Now that mine is finally broke in, been switched to synthetic 20/50 and the valves adjusted, I ride it in its normal ranges. It doesn't develop any power until 5k so it's nice to let it run. Ran it at 7500 R's for a while on the open road last week too (not much open road in Volcano). It's nice not to not be doing 45 mph anymore! LOL!

Thanks guys. I think at 500 miles, and the service done, I'll keep it under 7k until 1000 miles, then the gloves come off . I wanted to take it out of state to camp later this month, but I wont have 1000 miles on by then. I'll do my best though.

Don't be shy once it's broken in, I ran mine at 8500-9000 RPM for hours on the Trans Canada. It didn't even burn any oil, impressive.

@ Lee R, I'd love to see Canada... it looks quite impressive. I lived in the Rockies for 14 years give or take, and sure miss the mountains, and the desert...now I have equator-like heat, humidity, and being last in everything a state can be worst in. What mileage did you start to run yours at 7-8k rpms? I'm figuring on close to a 1000. Have about 300 miles on it now.

My wife and I ran the snot out of both of our RX3's after the first service. 8000-8500 rpm hwy speeds 1300 miles with the odd dirt road or back road thrown in here and there.

I waited until after 500. once that was done, it was "on". I can definitely see though why these are a little more "valve adjustment intensive" over other bikes at the high RPM's they constantly live it. Just the nature of it, I 'spose.

That's what I guessed. I'm a bit over 300...about 220 since my oil change. Noticed fluid has been in the ocs tube but has leaked out the bottom. My oil level has risen.. I guess they all suffer from this. Some guy on advrider deleted his with no reported ill effects (yet).

Unless the OCS setup is there for catching unburnt stuff that they maybe don't want on an intake sensor for the EFI, I can't see why it's even there. Maybe a EPA or CARB hoop to jump through? Like you, mine started to leak a little and stay empty after I dumped it the first time.
Here's an example of my "2 inch OCS" on Q. As you can see, it's a complex design. No problems so far!

I removed mine 1000km ago, and moved the clear collecting tube to the underside of the air filter box. Just colected less than an inch of sludge up to this moment.

Nice Juanro!

Next time you change the oil, let us know if you smell any fuel in the old oil. I'm really tempted to remove my OCS too ... my only concern is leaving fuel in the oil.

I don't think we'll have that problem. The Megelli 250, and other enduro bikes sold here in Argentina as the Guerrero GRF250 (http://imagenes.cordobavende.com/cha...0-13549547.jpg) use the same engine and no OCS. As long as the carter is ventilated, and the oil gets to the right temperature, fuel should evaporate and drift away... after reading the thermostat bypass thread I'm really convinced that any fuel in the oil issue is caused more by a cold engine that by any other reason.
Anyway: I'm 2000 km from my next oil change, that's about a month for me, my bike has 20K km and never had fuel smelling oil or oil level rising before. I'll let you know.

So Juanro, you basically reversed the setup? Kept the filter and clear tube and just moved them up to the air box? This sounds like it may work out well!
