Does this look like a good deal?

Are the mods worth anything, or are the parts very inexpensive?

I know that Enfield slashed their prices on the new models, which must be depressing the used market, so I think this guy is at least $500 high, but I don't know. I'm guessing that the '$5,000' price for a new one from the dealer will have inflated delivery, setup, prep, and documentation charges, but again, I don't know. Spud (wisely) refers to these as 'Bogus Fees' and I agree.

Are the EFI mufflers loud?

British Racing Green is a nice color, and I travel with girls so I like the passenger seat.

My guess is that his $1,200 of accessories is more like $350 but I don't know.

It seems close to Weld-Land.....

I can't offer any advice regarding price, but that is certainly a handsome motorcycle.

Very close to Weldburg. About 20 minutes from my place.

That's a really nice looking bike. I'd lose the windshield and swap the front fender for a smaller unit, but that's all that jumps out at me. I don't really care for the gaiters, but they don't bug me enough to remove them.

The fact that you want to ride two up means that the mid controls will be perfect.

The price tag is a little high IMO, given the low retail price for a new one. He indicates OBO, so perhaps you can do a bit better.

I just toy around with the idea.

You guys know I am medically incapable of leaving well enough alone.

It may make a fun 2 day adventure riding it home across the Washington mountains and desert on the slower back roads. Plus I'd get to meet Weld and SOWAG for a leisurely dinner and a couple of beers...

Doc, think that Royal Enfield has been for sale for a long time, $4995 seems high to me. In my opinion, RE accessories are way overpriced and I think your value of $350 is in the ballpark. As you know, a new 2014 B5 lists for $4995 and has a two year warranty. I remember going into Vince's Motorcycle shop in Olympia, my impression is that he will deal, might be worth a phone call. I think my dealer in Salem charged around $350 for freight. Last winter they were offering their RE inventory at $500 off msrp (that was before the price reduction though). In a nutshell. I think you could buy a new B5 for close to the same price and then buy your accessories aftermarket.

Oh, the EFI muffler is quiet

I lean towards the chrome one.

My concern for the matte finishes is that they would be difficult to match the paint for a repair.

Also, I would still want a passenger seat for pretty girls and those bikes are solo. They seem to have pillion pegs though.

Thanks that looks like what I would want.

I really like these bikes, especially the chrome one.

Have any of the people on the Enfield boards commented on how well they hold up? Anyone with any serious or Spud-like mileage on them?

What is the break in... Would I be able to ride it home from Portland on the back roads, say 60 MPH or less?

I believe that the 2011 C5 you are considering has the UCE and fuel injection, it's a good engine. There would be no problem riding it home, I'd keep it under 50 mph though, the first oil change is due at 300 miles. I did see a post from a rider in the US that had 30,000 miles on his with no problems, that is probably the highest mile UCE in the US. Here is a great article on the UCE

Good article. This seems like a more impressive platform than I gave it credit for.

The fact that it has hydraulic tappets almost sells me. No valve adjustment, almost free oil changes, 75 MPG, low power easy on chain, sprockets and tires, and electronic ignition and fuel injection it seems like this would be an inexpensive bike to operate.

Any differences between the '11's and the '14's?
