You can't ride it, but it is Zongshen powered!

I realize this is waaaay off any kind of atv or motorcycle topic, but I just picked up a small single stage snowblower from Canadian Tire. It's the MTD with the 179cc "Powermore" engine. Upon getting it home and reading the manuals I found no mention of the true manufacturers name... I had just assumed it was a new model name for a Briggs or Techumseh. After doing some digging, it turns out that it is made by Zongshen! Looks like they use some quality parts in it too, iron cylinder liner and such. Started well and runs beautifully... Even has a 2 year warranty on the engine!

Though whilst googling I also found out that Tecumseh had to close one of it's small engine plants due to MTD outsourcing their engines, and the plant had 180 workers... That kind of saddened me, I'm all for a good deal but I hate to see people lose their jobs.

One more side note... I notice the day after I buy a MTD that John is now selling the smaller two stages on the auctions... Doh!!! Though the shipping is kind of high on them (IMHO) it will be interesting to see what they sell for.

Edit: Info on the Powermore engines... Honda clones? http://www.powermore.ca/powermore/

I too was looking at snow blowers and noticed many "assembled in USA" Chinese types for sale.

Indeed, I think almost all of MTD/Yardworks line is powered by the Powermore engines now. I heard Craftsman is using some of the engines as well.
