Tao Tao atv will not shut off

I have a little Tao Tao atv that was given to a friend that seems to have had a rought lifr but I have everything working and running pretty good, the issue I have is when you want to turn it off nothing kills the engine. Not the key switch, kill button or the safety switch on the rear. What is the best way to trouble shoot the ground circuit to fix this problem cause I can find nothing visiably wrong.

Wiring diagram should be your first step ,then follow the kill circuit wiring until you find the problem .

Here is a common wiring diagram that shows which pin to ground to kill the spark on a 5 wire CDI.

Well, I am at a loss. I have gone through this thing every which way I can and the only way to cut the machine off is to pull the wire off the ignition coil. I have checked every connection 4 times and can find no problem. I sure wish I had a true wiring diagram for this thing.

You could make your own shut off by running a switch between a green wire and a black/white stripe wire.

kill switch

this is simple.... keep it simple.... on your ignition switch... you havee power to it from the battery... the other set of wires on the bottom... one is ground... to your frame or battery.. and the other wire on that row... goes to the black and white wire goingto the cdi... middle plug.. to ground it... to kill it... so with the key off... ground( - ) power to the other wire than goes to the cdi,,, SIMPLE
