Air filter mod -- Brixton BX125

As it seems almost impossible to source air filters for Brixton BX125 in Europe (the original bike, before the Felsberg/Cromwell) i was thinking going aftermarket.

I'm entertaining the idea of removing the air box altogether and placing a K&N filter straight on the intake, much like the screenshot below shows.

In the video the gentleman mounts both the K&N and the air box with the original filter in sequence, which in my opinion would only make things worse for performance.

I have the stock ECU on it, Delphi MT05 with the lambda sensor on the exhaust.
Any downsides if i completely remove the airbox and just add the K&N?

Good question. I myself am looking for parts for my Brixton. Just in case something get's broken or just needs top be replaced. And i can't find any info on air filters and what would be a good alternative or upgrade.
