biggest reliable Chinese enduro

I got a hawk 250 (technically a shark 250) and I want more power. I really thought this woud have more power. I'm really looking for something that would be good for trail riding that could also pull two people easily. So basically something light and powerful. Unless theirs a larger engine I can put on it that wouldn't snap the frame, I'm looking for a 400cc Cheap enduro bike.

Or a true 250cc top end kit with an oil cooler? I couldn't find one, only 229.

You can boost the power buy installing a better muffler and carb.

I tried that but removing the catalytic converter made the bike idle weird, (couldn't jet it right no matter what I did) if I leave the cat on and just swap the muffler out would that even help? Also the current carb works fine how would switching it help? Also would this fit the hawk?

It says it's a 70mm bore, how would I add a liquid cooling system to it?

We had 400cc enduros a few years ago, by Xingyue, but they proved to be very unreliable. There was nothing to fix them, sadly, so they slowly left the US. The best enduro right now? The SSR XF250. Member 'dh' has one and has reported taking him and his spouse on So. Cal. highways and freeways two up on it. It uses a Suzuki clone engine (I believe the engine is the same as the TU250X)--a real clone in which parts interchange; parts you can get from Suzuki dealers, lol.

The Pitster Pro LXR250F might be what you are looking for. 31hp and efi. It also comes with a lot of high grade parts like cnc triples and wheel hubs and good alloy rims. Not a cheap bike in the world of Chinese enduros, but still cheaper than Japanese equivalents

You get a lot for your money with the lxr250f. I agree that a detuned, carbed version with less fancy parts for around 2500 would be awesome, but to me the suspension alone is worth the extra cost.

I have been eyeballing the SSR SR450s, which is a grand more than the lxr250f. It has had some great reviews and has even been raced successfully. Starting to ventire into good used Japanese bike territory though.

The Pitster XTR models are supposed to be great bikes (for Chinese); they offer both the 19"/16" version and the 21"/18" version around that price point.

You have been following Chondachondachonda's thread, I believe? He has been showing how great these bikes are. For your situation, if the Hawk is 'iffy' as far as street registration goes, I can imagine how much more difficult one of the Pitster bikes would be to register.

I honestly would love to know if there are more examples of successful registration for the SSR and Pitster bikes for road use. I don't doubt that I could register either bike in my state, because Nebraska simply doesn't give much of a damn. I know I have seen one plated example of the SR450S and LXR250F, so much like the Hawk it will probably come down to what state you live in.

I know I am getting off-topic a little, but AZ is the same as far as registering most anything with a minimum of street equipment. What I wasn't aware of, is that if one has an enduro (or quad) and has a bare minimum of equipment, AZ will issue a plate that is only good for the daylight hours, whereas if one equips their bike like, say the Hawk, they will get a plate like any other street-legal bike.
