Congrats on making money on the little bike. I sure hope you can snag that 250! I have a '96, and I love it.

My first dualsport was a 1996 XR250L. I bought it wrecked very cheaply, fixed it up and enjoyed it for about 10 years. I rode it about 30,000 miles as a commuter on the San Francisco Bay Area highways (up to 80MPH 8O ) and a trail bike. I loved it!

I wore the engine out and the head cracked, likely due to the high speed highway use. I had it rebuilt at XR's Only, at great expense and it never ran well after that. I sold it and got my money back.

I still miss thta bike, and of course I miss The Dirt Rat.
