I ordered one last Friday....hoping it will be as good of a bike as my old Yamaha XT250 was, it specs much better than the Yamaha, but also know quality may be a little lower. Expect it next week.....Still haven't told the wife......hope I'm not living in the Man-Cave when she finds out....

Congrats on the new bike. Keep us posted when you receive. I'm really impressed with this bike. Approaching the 100 mile mark.. Save yourself some assembly time.. The air Filter on all the other models are accessible from the side. The Templars filter is under the battery. It did ship with some oil. This is my first China Bike..... Like the others are not really China made... haha..

What’s the story on this motor? Really 249cc? Is it a Honda clone?

Motor is a true 249.9 CC. Absolutely Honda inspired but not a direct clone. Appears there a 3 models for the engine. Possibly the bottom end is same and just top end bore & stroke increases from 66mm to 72 mm.. But I don't even think that's the case each model has some unique differences. ZS166FMM, ZS169FMM & ZS172FMM. This engine is the ZS172FMM3-A basically a non counterbalanced 5 speed. The newest GPX, RCB, FSE, Kayo etc has the ZS172FMM-5 (PR250). Its Zongshen made, counter balanced and has six gears. Other Forums specs say the newest engine has less vibrations, but also less power and torque. Power is about 1.5-2 hp less than traditional 172FMM. Joe Henner Motorsports has several post and upgrades that I'm researching. I would love to put a 4° flywheel key in this motor to see the actual difference..

Forgive me, for I am a newb, but does this mean that repair/replacement parts will be harder to source, not being a clone of an already popular engine?

Edit: Ah, heck…ordered lol.
I liked the OHC setup on the Apollo, but there’s no replacement for displacement.

Honestly I'm asking myself the same question. It appears the Engine is very popular Asia, UK etc. There's plenty of parts just where to purchase them. So my answer is yes sorta maybe.. So I took the plunge and ordered a complete engine replacement on eBay. Item# 115297311793

Might be overkill but I figure when anyone on several forums needs a replacement part I will just part out my engine on EBay and it allows me to dissect internals and test hypothesis for horsepower..

Powermaxsports gave me a $100 refund on popped tire and scuffed rim. So my total out the door for the bike and a complete backup engine is $2359.98.. Still happy..

I’m so damn tempted to jump at this, I’m just scared to death parts could be impossible to find. I don’t want a cool looking bike that’s outta service from a $50 part that’s a 10 month wait. I‘ve talked myself out of buying one twice in the last week…….

I figure if you can buy a whole motor on eBay for $500 the parts won’t be that hard to come by

Okie? I’m going to assume that’s based on your address…. I’m not too far from you, possibly you’d let me come take a look at your new toy when it arrives?

I spent a Fall break with a girlfriend while in college out there. She lived 30 miles west of Woodward, I was never so happy to get back home. I never thought I’d miss a green lawn as much as I did…..
