I got up early this morning to troubleshoot the horn and headlight. when I took the fairing of I found the horn on its bracket laying in the plastics inside the bottom of the scooter. In installed it an now the horn works but still no headlights. There in no wiring diagram in the owner's manual not even the generic one size fits all diagram that comes with other china bikes. I'm not if and where the headlight relay is, I checked all the wiring connections in the front. It looks like a royal pain to get the plastic off in the back because it appears for the most part to be on big piece.

Since I bought this scooter locally and even though I opted to put it together I believe I have a warranty. I am torn between dropping in off for them to fix it and fixing it myself and gaining more knowledge about how to fix it from the great people on this forum

Does the headlight not illuminate when the engine is running?

Does this scooter not have a spec plate showing which oil to use?

Regular 15W40 works fine for GY6 break-in, but change at around 50, 200, 500 miles to keep the suspended glitter flushed out. One option is to change to Delo at around 1,000 miles, which has a little more slick stuff (Zinc & Boron).

[QUOTE=tortoise;201462]Does the headlight not illuminate when the engine is running?

The headlight does not illuminate when the engine is running, not does the highbeam indicator light come on either. I checked all the connections on the front of the scooter and everything is good. I did not check the light switch with an ohm meter yet. All other lights: Tail, brake , running, and turn signal lights work fine. I suspect a loose connect at the headlight relay or the relay is bad if I can find it. I suspect it is somewhere on under the seat on the right side of the scooter. There is a lot of plastics to take off in order to view the wiring where I suspect it is.

It probably does have the spec plate. Last year for Christmas I bought the family 2 Tao Tao quad runners and Will 250 (I've since traded "Will" in for a CRF250L). "Will" used the Rotella since in didn't have the friction inhibitors and I somehow came to believe then That Rotella was best for the Quads. Since the scooter had the same engine as the Tao Tao 150d Utility I thought that Rotella would be the engine as well. Weld set me straight about the friction inhibitors. I'll look for the plate when I get home from work tonite
.
