I understand the too much project issue sometimes. I rarely complete one before I lose interest.

The one advantage to the CT is huge support. Lots of aftermarket available.

Not the case with this bike. There's such a small market for them that finding parts is not really difficult, but they also seem to be so expensive.

It would not surprise me if the wiring from a CT clone @ Hooper imports would not do the job here (if you find yourself unable/unwilling to sort out what you have)?

I was thinking the same. The two bikes are similar.

You bet. That's what I was thinking too.

Put it in with a couple of cheap brackets to straighten it up a little bit. Nothing permanent, but somewhere to start. Maybe do-able?

The only real problems I could foresee is the line in which the chain will run and how to mount the carb. Any ideas on how to fab either the existing or a new intake as to make the carb fit?

I would play with the length of the brackets until the stock intake and carb fit, moving the engine forward and down as necessary. Once you have that in place, you should be able to run the chain over a roller; they're cheap and plentiful. Even a roller skate wheel would do the trick, although having someone machine a groove in it to capture the chain would be best.

You can experiment with hanging the engine lower than it is, as long as it doesn't contact the ground during aggressive cornering, at full suspension compression.

That looks really cool. 8)

Okay. This project is taking shape.

Will those mounts have too much flex? You may want to fab a top mount too.

Yes, those mounts would have too much flex, but they should only be used for mock-up. The final product should be cut from mild steel plate, approximating the thickness of the original mounts.

If practical, a third mount at the top of the engine would be wise, but not likely critical. I think that fat tube above the engine is the fuel tank, so a person would have to be careful to not burn through when welding it.

I am thinking a top mount could be incorporated into the black mounting bracket. Just run some steel up along that top tube. Maybe a metal strap could be made to wrap around the tube.

I was thinking the same thing; maybe a dirt bike muffler clamp.
