Sussed the speedo issue. Not fixed, but at least I know the reason why now. Apparently, there is a high speed gearset (3.89:1) for these beasts. Stock is 4.62:1. I can tell that the speedo gears have been changed in the past and I bet I have the high speed set in there. About thirty five bucks and a couple of beers to correct.

But then, I have the Trail Tech now dialed into within 0.5 mph of my Garmin. I don't think I am going to rush this.

got some more parts for my GL1200 front end. wheel and axle arrived, with brake calipers and rotors on the way. the stock axle is going to be workable on the forks, so wheel should be a shoe-in. I'll just need appropriate spaces to get it all lined up. I have a source for a speedo gearset too. other than getting brake lines, I should have everything I need to do initial setup. then strip it down and clean/paint what needs.

the project is progressing!!!

On the fourth tank of fuel since the jet upgrade. As expected, the mileage dropped a tad with the bigger main jet. I'll put up with the mileage drop for the increase in performance. Also, every ride has been in stop and go traffic. Average is around 27 mpg. On par with Mrs. C's Audi. A little better than half of the CX mileage.

the new bearings are in and the axle fits the fork tubes great. once I get the brake alignment figured out, I'll be ready to test-fit on the C10.

Getting somewhere.

The straps on the u-bolts need to be beefier but, save for paint, that's all that's left to do.

If yer into baseball type time killer statistics, longest ride to date with a minimum of stops. 100 miles with a gas stop plus a three minute stop to pick up a craigslist buy.

I kinda went out of my way to get two gallons of Yamalube 20w-50 Synthetic for twenty bucks.
