after much research a second thoughts I finally pulled the trigger on ordering a magician 250. I know the hawk is probably a better off road bike but I am a short legged dude. I ordered it from txpowersports and I hope this goes smoothly. thanks to all of you guys on this forum, reading your posts have helped me to get a Chinese bike.

Did you make sure the bike can be registered? It, like the Hawk, is certified as an 'off-road motorcycle' according to the EPA, although it seems that well over half the states will plate the Hawk (which would include the Magician, by default, since both are on the same certificate). If you are good to go, congrats!!

@shortlegrider, Good luck man! I got it from there fully assembled, had to out front tire on, mirrors, handle bars, muffler, as well as pull out the battery to place the acid in there, fender had to be out on as well. For some reason, the bike will not start for several attempts. When it finally starts, it makes an odd sound on the back tire. I can't seem to even move the bike without the engine on. I put it in nutral and the back tire seems like it is locked up. Also, the seat wont open up the storage area. If you have these problems solved, PLEASE let me know the solutions.

Did you happen to check and align the rear wheel? Being hard to move in neutral sounds like a mechanical bind and the sprockets may not be lined up or the chain is catching/rubbing on the tire.

Also, if you got the bike as you describe, it wasnt fully assembled. Fully assemled means all of those parts would have been installed already.

Hey shortlegrider. Congrats on you purchase. I think nh is fine with hawk or magician. Where about in NH? I bought a place in Dalton in February. Hopefully I will start to build next year.

Indeed, it came in a crate like that, the back tire was already on there, it must be their problem. My father left out a small clear silicone looking tube. Does that have anything to do with it?

Congrats shortleg! Pics as soon as you get it then pics during un-crating and after final assembly, that's the only way to properly thank everyone for helping you to decide on a China bike! Good luck and have fun with it. Make sure EVERY moving part is properly greased before you ride.

If the engine is cold you will need to use the choke. Check to make sure your chain is aliened and is not rubbing the tire. Brake is probably locked up. More than likely the rear brake pedal needs adjusting. And most important Chain the oil that came in it. Read the manual if provided. It has all this information in it. Link to manual if you don't have one. http://therps.net/Magician.html
